Forums - Gaming - Gametrailers: Top 10 Most dissapointing games of the decade

Well I can't say I disagree since I'm not really aware of  all the problems .  If it had hype to be able to compete with WoW then I can see it being in the Top 5 easily.  I wasn't saying it's not a well-thought out list, just questioning #1 since it's reviews are satisfactory but nothing impressive as to why it'd be the biggest disappointment BUT as I said I'm not aware of the hype that revolved around it beforehand either.

Galaxies came out over a year before World of Warcraft. It was the only Star Wars MMO and was handled by SOE, who were at the time the biggest name in MMMORPG. (Certainly not anymore.) And it came out between Episodes II and III. So there were expectations. But not living up to the hype isn't what made it a disappointment. (or such a big one.) It was the disgusting disregard SOE showed to it's own customer base. A lot of people stuck out it for years only for SOE to pull the rug out from under them twice. It was a massive slap in the face for people whose subscriptions were paying for the game. They took a sledgehammer to the game's foundation in order to hastily rework for a marketing push when Star Wars: Episode III came out. And then those people who joined up at that time, not aware of what just happened, got smacked down when they redid the game a second time when the Episode III DVD came out at the end of the year. Not to mention people like me who survived one massive structuring of the game only to have to go through the whole painful process all over again. The very people who forgave the game's massive shortcomings and pitfalls, whose hard money kept the game afloat, were ignored and stomped flat in a clumsy and ill-advised attempt to steal a fraction of World of Warcraft's customers.

That's just the big stuff too. The was the Jedi problem that plagued the game for years and it's final resolution to let everyone be one. There terrible customer service. Obscene amounts of bugs, glitches, and obviously unfinished parts of the game. Even major aspects of the gameplay remained a mystery that players and to slowly figure out since the development staff had no clue themselves what they were doing. I could go on for pages about how SOE routinely abused there own customers.

Actually, I have very few complaints with that list. SWG was a travesty, MGS2 was rubbish compared to the original, and Doom 3 made me want to kick a puppy.

Weird list, MGS2 definitely shouldn't be on there.

Really good list in my opinion. Glad someone agrees with me on Fable haha. Gosh that game was just disappointing for me.

I hate fpses and I have a problem of finishing games and Doom 3 is one FPS that I finished so

thats says alot of how great i thought it to be, hell I tried to play Halo twice and it kinnda sucked

both times. Doom shouldn't be on there but then again i discovered the game in 2008 so I really

had no expectations.

Too Human?

have you even played that xbox 360 exclusive game yet?

wasn't on pc too?

Lair wasn't that bad. Atleast it did have good controls. Which is what it's often bashed for. It's issue was with everything else.. especially the difficulty curve. Shit was all over the place.

Check out my game about moles ^

Star Wars Galaxies was extremely disappointing! I really wanted that game to be good but it wasn't. :(

POST-PATCH it had decent controls. At launch, that shit was nearly unplayable. Good thing the Sixaxis was nearly indestructible or I would have had to buy a new controller after playing Lair.

The motion controls themselves were not TERRIBLE (but not very good, either), but the lock-on system and "mid-flight engagement" mechanics were unpredictable and were constantly throwing the player off in the wrong direction. Add in the sprite problem when you did a bombing run (making enemies invincible if you approached too quickly) and the game deserved every bit of nasty press it received.

Fantastic idea, absolutely horrendous implementation. At least the developer was decent enough to spend the time to fix many of the problems, though.
