LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nexon America today has launched “The Nexon iNitiative,” an ambitious new program that will provide up to $1 million to support the next generation of game developers. The most original, unique and promising independent gaming projects will be sponsored, co-developed and later published through Nexon’s global distribution network which services games in more than 71 countries.

The Nexon iNitiative is now accepting game ideas through its dedicated Web site: http://initiative.nexon.net.

Game developers selected by The Nexon iNitiative program will earn a share of the $1 million to support the game’s development as well as a chance at a Nexon publishing contract. The Nexon iNitiative finalists will be selected and contacted by June, 2010.

“Nexon is all about great games and The Nexon iNitiative is about finding the next generation of great game developers,” said Won Il Sue, Nexon America’s vice president of business development. “It doesn’t matter who you are, if you’ve got a great idea, we want to hear from you. We’re ready to fund, develop and publish the best of the best through our massive worldwide network. We know that there are a lot of developers out there, both professional and amateur, who feel frustrated at the barriers to getting a truly unique and innovative game developed and published. The Nexon iNitiative is the place they can turn to with those great ideas that will sweep those barriers aside.”

The Nexon iNitiative is looking for potential PC-based games that have broad appeal and encourage community and social interaction. Flash, client-based games or ports from other platforms are welcome. Games with strong online elements will get serious consideration, but no good idea will be turned away.

The Nexon iNitiative Website (http://initiative.nexon.net) is now open and will begin taking game submissions immediately. Members of the Nexon America business development staff will be available at the Game Developer’s Conference in conference room 220 on March 10, 11 and 12 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

You DON'T want to get involved with Nexon if you're developing anything. As someone who's played several of the games they hosted over the years, they do the best they can to piss off players, make it impossible to remain competitive without spending 30 bucks a month, and prove completely incompetent at basic hosting, all at the same time.

I would just want to make a game that's basically a 1st person GTA.

I love the driving and hookers and stuff in GTA but the shooting system kinda sucks ass. I think it would be a better game as a FPS but still a sandbox game and when you're driving its the normal behind the car view.
