Forums - Sony - Analyst: One In Three God Of War III Buyers Don't Own A PS3

1) This article is a year old... exactly... how did someone even find this to post? Consumer behavior trends that isn't short term isn't that reliable.

2) What a consumer says they plan on doing and what they do are often different.

3) They say to realize those sales it'd have to be about the same price as the 360 and Wii...  I don't think you can really say the PS3 qualifies as that yet.

Well this was the scenario way back then (exactly a year back) before the PS3 even had a price-cut. Every Analysts would have thought the same. Now as a year has passed with new developments like price-cuts and slim launch, it's almost as equivalent as saying that ps3 has proved to be worth the price it selling for with an increasing userbase.

That is some of the most backwords logic i've seen if you think the rest of his statement applies. which i'd think you'd think SOME of it applied if you posted this.

Damn you! You stole my reply! (kind of) I was just going to say "Well, they'll have a hard time playing it then."

Did anyone read the full atricle?

This analyst must have been writing pre-Slim because he was saying GoW III will release late 2009 / early 2010. Obviously that means this analysis hasn't taken into account the slim launch and the release of GoW collection (in the USA). The Analyst is maybe picking that pricecut and GoW III would hit at a similar time (whereas Uncharted 2 and price cut hit at a similar time instead).

I'm thinking, with Slim's 5 month selling period prior to GoW III release (and a slight effect from CoW collection) that ratio will have gone down to something more like 1:7 or 1:8. On a 1 million 1st week that could still mean a 100-125K boost.

But I'm sure the analyst wasn't too far off when he first made that statement.

Now well this analyst had stated a year ago that early 2010 would be pivotal for Sony with the GoW release. Well it didn't happen in late 2009  but the price-cut happened according to his prediction. And thus the ratio must've reduced to atleast 1/5 as of current. Well where does this put things now? More gamers are picking up PS3's at the current price which has become close to an affordable limit and with the release of this game, more than expected sales are bound to occur. All regions equally, a little more than expected.

Any-which-way, GOW III is gonna be EPIC!

Playing and finishing games first>>>>>>>>>>Then talking!

Well I'm guessing this is now down to 1 in 3,000.

This thread ended rather fast.

PS3 will be lucky to sell over 300k consoles in a week during March.
1 in 3 God of War 3 buyers do not yet own a PS3.
Sales analysts never get it right.
