It probably all evened out in the end.
I think that error would have zero effect on console sales. I say 90k+ because Heavy Rain was an anticipated game and it's getting some mainstream press.
The bug worked itself out in a day. There's not going to be any effect here, it really would've taken several days or a week even of bugged units before you'd start seeing PS3 owners going out and replacing their units.
And as far as prospective PS3 buyers, it was a nonissue anyway since slims weren't affected.
