Forums - Sony - Sony underestimating Heavy Rain popularity in the UK?

I don't know how things are elsewhere but it seems heavy rain has sold out a lot of places. Where I live both Game, HMV and ASDA at least have sold out all their copies of Heavy Rain. I also notice that both game.co.uk and amazon.co.uk seems sold out (the latter only offering copies from the partners atm). While play.com which do seem to still have it in stock lists it as their most selling game atm, accross all platforms. When asking at my local HMV store they told me they didn't expect new stock until sometime next week.

So is this the case elsewhere too? Is Heavy Rain sold out in other countries too? Or was it just Sony UK who badly underestimated demand?

In my area of the UK (Edinburgh), it's the same. Surprised me.

Hmm, I know a lot of people here import from the Uk, so that probably has something to do with it too.

its sold out almost every where as i m living in ksa i imported my game from my country pakistan but now even in pakistan its hard to find now beacause of high demand of game

Same here. I went to 2 blockbusters non had them. Game/the other game and they didnt have non.

Gamestation had a copy but they were selling it for 50 pounds.

@papflesje The issue of importing is true for any game so I would assume that Sony UK takes account for that in their estimates. I don't see any reason why a higher percentage of people would import Heavy Rain from the UK than the percentage for other games.

It might have something to do with the fact that the game over here is even more  expensive than the usual exclusive.

I saw reports its sold out in certain retail outlets and Sony are getting new stock there as fast as they can.

Conclusion - Sony/Retailers (cause it's the retailers in the end who decide whether to buy what Sony suggests) did indeed underestimate demand for the game.

But I've got me copy! But I messed up playing it too late at night when I was sleepy! Argghhhh! But at least I got a Trophy for my bad decision. Wonder what'll happen next?

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

@ serious_frusting

A Gamestation (in London) had 2 copies at 55GBP each. I don't know if it was a special edition or what - didn't look like it but could be wrong - but £55 seems a bit much to pay for a game that is on sale most places £39.99 - £44.99.

After giving it some thought I decided to get a copy anyway and when I returned after work there were both gone.

Maybe in hindsight that was a good thing as I now consider that price to be a major ripoff.

I thought about 69 or 70Euros was the usual HD game price in most of Europe.
What is HR's price where you are?
