vic_viper said: @Godofwar_3ever: Thank you for reinforcing my view on typical GoW fans. Enjoy your trite, single button combo mashing, homoerotic greek gorefest. Whether this blog is factual or not, I could care less how many 10s or 9s this game gets, this series has always been garbage. |
I will enjoy GoW, but I wouldn't expect you to know that it is more than just a button masher. Stop playing it on easy difficulty, some of the combos you can pull off is insane. Its unfortunate some people can't enjoy this epic series, but people have different tastes and I respect that and thats something you can't seem to do.
So please try to deny that your post is nothing more than hating on GoW.
And calling a series "garbage" when a lot of people worked hard to create is very wrong, especially since it has been proved otherwise both critically and by fan reactions. God of War is one of the best franchises ever created, and easily the best hack 'n slash franchise ever created. No amount of your complaints will change that.

No, you're grasping at straws.
GoW3 isn't a button masher, but it doesn't have half as much depth as Bayonetta, DMC or NGS.
I'm super hyped for GoW3 as well, but it desn't have anything to do with the battle system, but about the scale, the epicness and the design.

I wouldn't say grasping at straws. Bayonetta uses similar timing for dodge just as GOW series uses the timing for countering such as the golden fleece usage timing to open up a mob for a combo. I would say they all have similar depth actually, especially moreso that GOW3 has hermes' boots which add that much more (check out the video on this site). here's a very simple combo you may wanna try on GOW2 but is gratifying. Open with blades of athena on 3 squares, switch up to spear of destiny with 2 triangle (might be 3 i forget), switch back to blades of athena and hold triangle to take mob up in the air further and jump with him, then hold L1 and circle in the air, hit once or twice more with square then circle by itself to end it with a grab (sorry button press might be slightly off). Remember air grabs alone add more depth of combat as well as weapon switches. Coming out of a dodge while holding triangle provides a nice parry to an aerial combo (assuming you spent the red orbs). This is not to say combat is OMG super deep, but if you're not playing in easy, just mashing square isn't going to get you far at all.
DMC 1,2 i could get away with just using guns, granted it would take forever. DMC3 added more depth while 4 took a minor step back. Bayonetta feeds off the viewtiful joe element thrown in which is nothing but smoke and mirrors and a similar effect is achieved in GOW1 and 2 with a last second block to have an oponent open for ground or aerial combo. So no grasping at straws here, the depth is up to par and might surpass bayonetta even based on the hermes+icarus wing combination usage I saw on the video. Thing is, all these games on easy don't require much at all, and on normal they are a challenge to the average gamer. So far hardest normal mode game i've played was DMC3 the ORIGINAL american version which had a normal mode that was in reality the japanese hard mode. But anyways I am going off topic here so good night lol.
Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)
I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/ hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.
