no way, there hasn't been as much hype about it.it will be a natal game defintley as MS wants something to push natal and as much as they disagree it will not be a natal,it will be a natal game.

and the coding required to use it fully will take alot of time, the AI will not be ready and it might get shadowed by it

WRONG!!! Bungie has already said Reach WILL NOT use Natal

plus they have said this halo will be more like Killzone2

Nobody has said this, and if they make it anything like KZ2 me and millions of other people won't go anywhere near it.

The definition of "prequel' is literally, in Latin a sequel that occurs beforehand.

Reach is a sequel in the Bungie Halo series, while a prequel in story. leo and ymeage1n are being way too restrictive here.

A true prequel to Halo would mean exclusion of all the advancements of the games and weapons and engines and technology that has gone into the game in the last decade. You're arguing just to argue again.

And yes, ymeaga1n, there are a small percentage of Halo 3 buyers who play campaign only - even if you said 20 percent, that would be 2 million buyers.

But there are 30 million more people in the install base. You really think that that in that 30 million new buyers there aren't people to replace those two million who just bought into the hype? you don't think the hype around this game this time around won't persuade buyers? The literally millions who rented/bought used/played as guests/played at friends in H3 because they missed the launch or didn't yet have a box aren't going to buy the next round? Bogus.

I bought Gears of War on launch. Didn't buy Gears 2. It still sold more. How come? I didn't buy it! How is that possible?

I still have yet to hear an argument that says Reach will fail to live up to H3 sales standards.

LOL I'm arguing just to argue? You're the one that is busting out the 'latin' definition of prequel. Thank you very much sir, but 99.99% of the people know a prequel is an addition to the storyline which takes place chronologically before the original narrative. Gee...kinda like halo reach.

You, my friend, are the first person I've ever seen to say, "it's a prequel in story, but a sequel in order released"...well DUH, that's why it's called a prequel cause it's coming out AFTER the original story.

Is the hobbit movie a sequel because it's using newer cgi technology than LOTR?

I really love Halo, but Reach I just don't think will sale as well as Halo3, There are so many great shooters now, When Halo1 2 came out there were no other great shooters on consoles, Then Halo 3 sold well because of the hype from Halo 1 and 2 plus first Halo on 360, there new console, ODST sold well, around 4.5 million I believe. I think Reach will sale a little better, I think were looking out about 3-4 million opening month, and maybe 6-7 million lifetime. I could be wrong, all I know is most of the big Halo fans I know have moved on to other great shooters they like better now, plus they have said this halo will be more like Killzone2, so it may turn a lot of halo fans off, but may also get a few more fans coming in, so we will see but I say 6-7 million for atleast 3 years maybe lifetime.

I agree with this. Mostly about Halo 3 being the first x360 version and people wanting to see Halo3 in shiny new graphics.

I bought a x360 just for Halo3. I had no interest in the spin offs and will probably get back into it with Halo4. I of course speak for myself and am not assuming the whole world must follow my example as some on this forum think the world should follow theirs.

Just because a game sold well a couple years ago doesn't necessarily mean it is going to set the world afire again.

A whole lot has changed since then. People have moved on from Halo (and some new ones will come but they should buy H3 if that's the case). There are now far more games and therefore far more options out there that some would rather spend their money on rather than a rehash of the same ole thing.  Semi casual gamers that bought ODST and\or Wars would probably not even bother, I don't know.

How this plays out is anyones guess.

Time well will obviously tell and I am no prophet. If it turns out to be a decent game then I hope it does well. For me I will say NO, it won't outsell H3 or get anywhere near but if it did that would be great...and unexpected on my part.

I also find the bigger userbase argument at Halo Reach launch somewhat weak but can't be bothered to go into that now.

It will. Now that there are over 10 million Halo 3 sold, and an active community of at least 200,000+ players online at ANY given time, previous owners, and hardcore fans of the series will buy, not to mention new comers. This may be Bungie's last Halo game, given so...it'll be HUGE. It will sell more than Halo 3...and in far less time. Remember Modern Warfare 2...now think of Halo...let it process........ok then, nuff said.

Everyone please ignore the x360 fans which are saying it will outsell Halo 3. Because it will NOT.

If your so ridiculously sure about that lets make a bet on it.

I don't do bets. Take my word for it. I'll be here come September, I'll look at this thread after the first weeks sales of halo reach. We will have our answer then. And one of use will be laughing.

Halo 3 had people that don't even care for FPS buying it just to see what all the talk was about. They won't be doing it again. You can quote me on that.

Of course you don't bet

i say close but no cigar

The Hobbit movie doesn't match up very well.  I'd say Phantom Menace would be a better example.  The Hobbit was written before the Lord of the Rings, so it isn't a prequel at all in either definition.  The Lord of the Rings is a sequel to the Hobbit, and The Hobbit movie is clealry going to be shaped by the success of Jackson's LOTR movies in a way that much supports my view on Reach's approach and why it should in many ways be considered the game's sequel no matter when the story takes place.  The Hobbit - though the story takes place first - will be heavily influenced and dependent on the influence of the later stories.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

I dont think it will, however its tough to say now that the 360 has a much larger fanbase then when Halo 3 was released. However back then there wasn't as much games many were looking forward to other than Halo 3, where as of now there's a variety. As well the new Call of Duty will definitely put an impact on Reach's sales.

Another note, no Master Chief lol.

Let me see...

360 have more then twice the install base.

Modded 360 are banned for Online-MP so if they want to play it online they must own a copy.

Halo Reach > Halo 3.
