Forums - Microsoft - Gamersyde: Alan Wake technically at the front, 360 and PS3. Preview.

if your gonna talk about crysis 2 ive seen so many screens that ps3 is looking more detailed and the draw distance is much more visible.

the guy from crysis stated that if the game is running physics heavy the ps3 will run better if the game is shader heavy the 360 will run better but when the game ships they will be exactly the same.

they obviously need alot of time to optimize this game for each console but just on screens ive seen ps3 version looks a little better but that could change and for all we really know this might not even come out looking like what they have been showing us so far, 360 and ps3 are very far behind in terms of gpu and memory that current pcs use so i really cant see how crysis 2 would push anything more then we havent seen already done on consoles.

if you do watch any of the cryengine 3 vids youll notice that they are using the engine in very simple ways just showing some scenery or building a map , ive never seen 5 enemies on screen with explosions and music and all the great stuff that make current gen games great.

mark my words crysis2 on consoles will not be superior in anyway to what we have already seen its going to be a very very dumbed down version compared to pc.

I have a simple question to anyone out there. How many of you that have played Uncharted 2 have also played Alan Wake? Anyone? Crickets.....Because the game isn't out yet! Lets stop comparing some videos online to actual experienced gameplay.

How does actually playing the game change the graphics from seeing it beeing played by someone else on video?

When I saw the first footage of UC2 during E3 09 I knew it was going to be phenomenal, that's why it recieved all those E3 awards for best visual design, best graphical technology etc... If you can stream gameplay video of the final build to your TV or PC, it doesn't change your ability to judge that title in general. Those are supposed to represent the final game and they do.

As long as it's gameplay, it's perfectly valid to discuss this matter.

Need I really explain why playing a game gives the true sense of how it looks? If going by videos is the only indication we need of how a game looks then Uncharted 2 is not mind blowing to myself. I have seen plenty of gameplay videos and watched people play it in a local Gamestop and to be honest with you I don't see what the fuss is about. So as you can see you are probably going apeshit over what I just said because I'm not blown away by it as everyone else seems to be. Maybe if I played it then my opinion would change some, but since according to you playing it doesn't matter then I'll stick with my original opinion.

Honestly I'm not blown away by any console game anymore. I think there are beautiful games but after 4 1/2 years in this generation I am used to it and can see where a major graphical leap can be made. Last gen was the same way as when the PS2 was released we were speechless, now its average.

OT: I really would love to see more previews like this one, Alan Wake looks incredible.

considering the praising GoW3 is getting in the graphical departement, it would be more fair to ask :

"How different would the outcome of this thread be if GoW3 was a 360 exclusive title?"

The more funny in this story it is how gamersyde have said
"Alan Wake top all the 360 games and can only be compared to the best ps3 game"

(proving that the PS3 is on the top right now)

and then how it was translated to :
"Gamersyde just put a 360 exclusive up there with Crysis and Crysis 2 set to stun on Xbox 360"

I think I just have proven you were wrong RAZurrection

Or they're saying a sandbox console game's only competition is the best looking PC game and 2 corridor shooters on PS3.

How does it being nicer then GOW 3 mean (Debatable as Crysis 2 is justa rebranded Cryengine for consoles), 360 will leap frog PS3 when it will be on PS3 and run a little better according to the DEVS?

What an idiot.

Crysis 2 looks worse then Crysis 1 did, its a multi-plat engine, not cutting edge anymore. Fact is, its a long way away, right now PS3 has the top games graphically, deal with it.

How does Crysis 2 make 360 leap frog PS3 (LMAo), when it will also be on PS3 and at least equal, and according to the devs, run a little better on PS3? Your an idiot RAZ. Everything I have seen from Crysis 2 is a waterd down Crysis 1 engine for consoles, not even close to the scale, scope of GOW, sorry, dumb post. Not out yet either, crytek are not the best at optimizing.

Right now PS3 has the best visuals, deal with it, not like the 360 is ugly, dont be so sensitive.

fairly certain Alan Wake hasn't been a sandbox title for a while.  That was originally the plan but they scrapped it if I remember correctly.

here we are, found a link

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

WAIT, what game are you referring as a sanbox game ? Alan Wake ?

oh, shit, I m losing my time, I thought you knew you subject a little bit. AW is all but a sandbox game.
It is similar to Uncharted/gearsofwar : corridor FPS.

Alan Wake was a sandbox game ... 2 years ago.
but they realized that a sandbox game will not allow them to have a good story driven game so they "closed" their "open world"

The fact you using the term "at least" is an oxymoron in itself, since most multiplatform games lesser than Crysis 2 are just not as good on PS3 as they are 360, sometimes its major, sometimes it's minor and in maybe 1% of cases they are in fact indistinguishabe or even better on PS3, but for the significant majority, the PS3 version is in fact "less".

Maybe, but it long term it looks like 360 is pulling ahead thanks to Crysis 2.
