Forums - Sony - Jaffe thinks Sony should sue Microsoft over Scrap Metal!

So David Jaffe has the copyright on car combat and psuedo-Greek mythology.

Right, me thinks someone is trying to stir up publicity for a certain game...

I can agree with you for War of the gods. But seriously a car combat game named scrap metal. Thats almost a joke. Its not only about the "metal", its also that "scrap" is a synonym of "twisted" in this case. Its the same name actually. Scrap Metal lol. If at least it wouldnt be a car combat game exactly like Twisted Metal is. Your really defending that? Scrap Metal / Twisted Metal it means the exact same thing... Its lame, probably the lamest name in the last years. Not much identity there.

"And Zeus gripped two lightning bolts like lightsabers"

Wait, that couldn't have been from some (dumb) claim against God of War could it?

Oh this is so bad. I think Jaffe should step up his thinking game, perhaps even stop to think sometimes...

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

I agree that scrap metal is nearly identical to twisted metal. Not only are they very similar in meaning, but the context is that of describing car wreckage. It's the same kind of gameplay too.
Would anyone agree any more if it was called "Distorted Metal" or warped/deformed...etc etc.

What about a platformer about a robot-dude that fights a scientist titled megaguy. I'm sorry, but people sweeping this under the rug are a little naive.

To beat the competition you got to steal or copy what makes your competition successful.

War of the Gods = God of War? It's the same?

Jeff:

Big Time sucks you = You suck big time

I actually agree with both points

I mean come on War of the Gods is a total copy of God of War (in terms of the title) so there's no way that can fly.

Then having a car combat game called Scrap Metal isn't quite as blatant a copy, but its still pretty close to Twisted Metal.

I say MS shouldn't get sued, but be forced to change both titles.

lol, I really like you comparison, megaguy. Its a very good example because its exactly the same thing, same gameplay but change one of the 2 word that compose the title for a synonym. I still cant believe they really are going to release a car combat game named Scrap Metal lol. I thought it was a joke first time I heard of this game.

If "Scrap Metal" was anything but a vehicular combat game then no prob but FFS Why not throw in a fing clown for the mascot we could call him... sugar tooth.

And Sony should put out a GOW movie at the same time as war of the gods comes out and use MS hype for their own.
