Forums - Nintendo - Interview with Cammie Dunaway confirms Zelda for E3.

Erm, didn't someone at Nintendo also say that it will be playable at E3? That doesn't suggest it's in the early stages of development...

One thing that upsets me though is that she keeps on telling everyone that this is Wii's 5th year, when the Wii is less than 3 and a half years old.

Do you know how to count right ? Nov 2006 - Nov 2007- Nov2008-Nov 2009 - Wii's 5th year has started on Nov26th .

Nov 2006 - Nov 2007     1 year
Nov 2007 - Nov 2008     2 years
Nov 2008 - Nov 2009     3 years
Nov 2009 - Mar 2010     3 years and 4 months

I know how to count thanks. Now please stop, will be better for you.

2006 was one year

2008 was three years
2009 was four years
2010 is the 5th year

Like it or not, that's how they see it, and technically you can't fault them. The Wii is currently is in it's 5th year going by that logic. Not hard to work out.

I'm pretty sure he said the female character was not accurate at all. That it was just a rough mockup

Prof, baby, please we all know you, we read your comments in threads, we know you're not that informed when it comes to Wii stuff... I'm pretty sure the comment you're talking about is the one where he stated the theories with the girl being your sword was wrong, at least thats the only comment I can think up even fits in with what you're claiming.

Anyway Miyamoto has said since E3 2009 that it should be out in 2010, thats the reason he didn't want his team to make a demo for the 2009 E3, that would have taken time away from development, hell the game has been in production since 2006... if everyone from the head developer to the president of the company says 2010, I'd be inclined to believe them...

And yeah... Motion Plus was hinted at E3 2008 by Miyamoto after the product was shown off... 2009 he and everyone else pretty much confirmed it...

This is probably just a discussion you should either actually read the news/interviews or just not say anything

:P

I found what made me think that, it was a detail leak that may or may not even be correct:

http://thewiire.com/blog/post/6183-rumor-new-zelda-wii-details-leaked

"and she's not your typical companion like Ezlo or Midna, in that she's rarely there with you. What you see in the piece of concept/promotional art isn't her real face (this isn't elaborated on)"

So yeah, I was confused about that but listen to these other things that back up my point:

1. "The Zelda producer said his team is hard at work to create a playable version of Zelda Wii for this June's E3 trade show. I'd like to show something playable," said Aonuma."

2. "The fact of the matter is that MotionPlus was actually not conceived at the beginning of the development of this new Wii version of the game," Aonuma explained.

3. "I'm afraid that you will just have to wait until next year when we can further elaborate on this and many other things. This timeline could put a new Wii Zelda in 2011, a direct contradiction to recent comments from Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata who confirmed a 2010 release. The Wiire has reached out to OMN for clarification on when the interview took place and is awaiting response."

4. "It's fun to move youre body around"

Honestly, it just seems like they've been testing new things throughout with no set goal in mind beside some 2010 release. As for the other things, I'm not really sure any of it is true or not. It's just hard to believe it will be out this year. That's all.

I did think about that, but that's flawed. It's like saying you are 10 years cause you were born in december 2000. Doesn't work that way.

Until November 2010 this is Wii's 4th year.

Tres, there are 2 measurements for time. Calculating the full period of elapsed time and including the current time period.

Just as our modern calendar system did not start with year 0 but year 1.

By using the second method and using the calendar years and not an actual anniversary year, it is year 5. But it's not incorrect to use your method either...it just depends on which methods you are utilizing.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

i agree that its kinda misleading but she is saying this is the 5th year that the wii has existed, not that it is 5 years old

Your 10th birthday is the last day of your 10th/first day of your 11th year of life ... Saying something is in its fifth year implies that it is not 5 years old yet.

VB: You showed off Metroid Other M today for the first time. The graphics didn’t live up to what I’ve seen on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games. What will be the appeal of this game?

... What are they, retarded? :-S I stopped reading there.

Also, I don't believe anyone ever believed Nintendo would NOT show of Zelda Wii @ this year's E3.

Do you have some valid indications that it will not be a holiday 2010 release?

Well, the only thing saying it may be in 2010 has been teasing. There hasn't been a direct answer or date set.

For counter-evidence:

1. Nothing has been shown from the game. Not one thing. Even the picture from last year's E3 was called inaccurate by Miyamoto himself. That means that by last E3, they didn't even have the characters fully developed. Just ideas.

2. Last year at E3, 2dmario was shown and then released several months later. That was another game that was not shown in any shape or form previously. Granted, they are both high-quality games, I think Zelda is a much more production-intensive game. Additionally, it may be using several different peripherals and would be more technical, imo. If 2d Mario made it just before Xmas, I don't think Zelda will make it.

3. Zelda does not really belong to the new market or model. Therefore, Nintendo is less inclined to give it everything they've got. 2dMario fits in with the market perfectly, but Zelda...not so much. Unless something within Zelda has drastically changed...like multiplayer (god, no) then it's not a priority.

Just my own opinions and conjecture, but I don't think they are going to push it out so fast. Look at Metroid for a more accurate example of a similar game.

1 & 2) nintendo is very tight lipped. They just announced The Last Story which is also a 2010 title and will surely take a good bit of production. Not every company is horrible at keeping secrets like Sony is.

3) you have fallen under the influence of the fanboys and trolls that say Nintendo doesn't care about the "core". This has been proven wrong repeatedly. How a team dedicated to soley to Zelda is influenced by another dev team that is focusing on Wii game x is beyond me.

but zelda hasn't even been officially announced, right?

And I'm not easily influenced. IMO I saw the Zelda teaser art as a response to the "core" saying, "hang in there".

I'm not sure if you know this... but if you compare core release dates for the gamecube... and compare it with the Wii.

Wii DESTROYS gamecube.  More Nintendo made core games came out sooner for the Wii then the gamecube equivlent.

Nintendo has been releasing more core games quicker with the Wii then they did the Gamecube.  People just get the "abandoning the core" mentality because they've also been release a lot of other stuff as well.
