Forums - Nintendo - Interview with Cammie Dunaway confirms Zelda for E3.

Interesting to see them being so open about their big E3 plans. If they're announcing Zelda and Vitality Sensor will be at E3 already, what big surprises will they have? I wouldn't expect a DS2 yet, really.

VB: You showed off Metroid Other M today for the first time. The graphics didn’t live up to what I’ve seen on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games. What will be the appeal of this game?

CD: Well, you can’t get access to Samus and the Metroid franchise on the other platforms. And this experience isn’t about the graphics at all. It is a shooting game. But it is a much more emotional experience with story to it.

(wow thats the most dumbest question in history of questions.. what will be the apeal to this game? its fucking metroid biatch)

Well I guess we'll wait 4 more months to see what's going on with Zelda. Keep busy with MH3 and Super Mario Galaxy 2, guys.

Her answers are very robotic!

Reggie is much more fun :C

Yep. I prefer so far Reggie. He's more talkative, less reserved, he gives us more clues about upcoming games.

Do you have some valid indications that it will not be a holiday 2010 release?

Well, the only thing saying it may be in 2010 has been teasing. There hasn't been a direct answer or date set.

For counter-evidence:

1. Nothing has been shown from the game. Not one thing. Even the picture from last year's E3 was called inaccurate by Miyamoto himself. That means that by last E3, they didn't even have the characters fully developed. Just ideas.

2. Last year at E3, 2dmario was shown and then released several months later. That was another game that was not shown in any shape or form previously. Granted, they are both high-quality games, I think Zelda is a much more production-intensive game. Additionally, it may be using several different peripherals and would be more technical, imo. If 2d Mario made it just before Xmas, I don't think Zelda will make it.

3. Zelda does not really belong to the new market or model. Therefore, Nintendo is less inclined to give it everything they've got. 2dMario fits in with the market perfectly, but Zelda...not so much. Unless something within Zelda has drastically changed...like multiplayer (god, no) then it's not a priority.

Just my own opinions and conjecture, but I don't think they are going to push it out so fast. Look at Metroid for a more accurate example of a similar game.

1 & 2) nintendo is very tight lipped. They just announced The Last Story which is also a 2010 title and will surely take a good bit of production. Not every company is horrible at keeping secrets like Sony is.

3) you have fallen under the influence of the fanboys and trolls that say Nintendo doesn't care about the "core". This has been proven wrong repeatedly. How a team dedicated to soley to Zelda is influenced by another dev team that is focusing on Wii game x is beyond me.

but zelda hasn't even been officially announced, right?

And I'm not easily influenced. IMO I saw the Zelda teaser art as a response to the "core" saying, "hang in there".

How is this even being debated.  Iwata himself said it was being released in 2010 - http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=6422

Well it's time for CAMMIE'S PICTURE!

Lol.  I'm glad he pointed that out because I was really looking forward to playing Metroid in HD.  Now I'm not so sure I want it.

One thing that upsets me though is that she keeps on telling everyone that this is Wii's 5th year, when the Wii is less than 3 and a half years old.

Depends on how you look at it, from a marketing perspective the Wii has been demonstrated (to some level) since the Tokoyo game show in 2005; and from an engineering perspective Nintendo has probably been working on the Wii much longer than that. On top of that you could look at it from a fiscal year perspective where the Wii was released in 2006-2007, its second year would be 2007-2008, third is 2008-2009, fourth is 2009-2010, and they’re heading into 2010-2011 fiscal year as of April 1st which would be the fifth fiscal year.
