Halo has always been somewhat similar to Tribes. Jetpacks alone doesn't make it any moreso.
Well Jetpacks, different loadouts, loadout-based skills and weapons, vehicles (i know halo has always had them) in a team class-based combat game is at least somewhat a tribes clone. The intense tribes/team fortress push here makes even the boring Halo universe look fun.
I can't wait to read all the threads about how innovate and awesome it is that Bungie came up with such an original idea.
Firstly IMO, Halo is the most interesting universe in gaming aside from Mass Effect. 2ndly, Halo was innovative in terms of limited weapons holding. But apart from that what makes Halo isnt the innovation as such. But implementation. Halo always new what it was, and hasn't changed to suit other FPS changes. The minute Halo strays from it's formula, is the minute it loses players. After all it's a completely different experience than the usual FPS clones on consoles these days ( KZ2, MW2, BFBC2 ) etc. They are all similar. Halo is so different from them. It would explain why Halo 3 still can pull in more Live users than MW2 most weeks. MW1 had some weeks above Halo 3 but Halo 3 got back on top after like 2 months of MW1 being out. 2 different tastes.
Reach looks amazing. I thought DVD was recently touted as a hinderence to HD Gaming. With 720p Native res, 4xMSAA and more content than any other shooter ever in 1 package at what point does DVD show it's strains?
KZ2 is a completely different FPS experience from MWF or battlefield.. heck even battlefield is someone different from the regular old COD..
people hated KZ2 for being that different..
I hate it when people talk crap without having played a game..
I have finished KZ2 bud. It's COD with clunkier controls. It just adds cover system. Halo is about twitch and tactics. Where the others are ripe with spawn campers and snipers. Thats the difference.

I've taken pleasure in putting people in their place before so if you seriously think Halo has made no innovations then please tell me and I will be glad to post a nice long reply showing you why you are so very wrong.
Also loving the graphics comments, hey everyone lets go look at GOW3's alpha footage and laugh how its just GOW2 in hd. People seriously don't understand anything when it comes to game development.
I'll bite. What has Halo innovated upon other than shoehorning a genre into a very limiting control scheme? Because it's certainly not story, gameplay mechanics, or graphics.
I still can't believe you think Halo takes any amount of skill outside of the simplest requirements to play other FPSes.
I know your banned but;
quick use grenades, regenerative health, 2 weapon maximum for both campaign and multiplayer, animations for getting into and out of vehicles, boarding of enemy vehicles, theater, matchmaking, dual wielding and four player co-op in fps
Each Halo game has brought a new innovation, everything I've listed was done first in Halo. I could go into much further depth with other aspects of Halo too but theres no point since you can't argue back. Not that it would make a difference, your one of, if not the most elitist person on vgchartz. If someone doesn't agree with your opinion you immediately mark them as idiots. Such a person does not warrant an intelligent debate.
For the people saying Halo stole the jet pack idea from tribes. You do realize that the whole concept of a jet pack in a video game has been around for over 25 years right?
Holy horseshoe Batman, Tribes stole the idea of jet packs from Space Harrier!
The definitive evidence that video games turn people into mass murderers

He's also making the assumption that the first game to do just about anything is automatically superior to anything else that does the same thing, which is rarely true.

Duke Nukem 3D had a jet pack and that came out before Tribes, so why are people even mentioning that? Are the people hating on this game that desperate to find something wrong with the game?

Dunno which halo you play but all three of the ones I have played have spawn campers and sniper campers. And CoD is all about twitch and tactics just as much as Halo.
This has probably already been mentioned but this really reminds me of Unreal Tournament 3. It even had a bunch of huge skulls come out of the guy apon death like in that one game mode. The jetpack MOD for that game was real fun and I'm looking forward to this. One thing that makes me laugh is when people act like Halo getting sprinting is REVOLUTIONARY. Revolutionary is when I can moon walk damnit.

What maps are you referring to? Killing someone who's camping is pretty simple as you can maneuver behind them with vehicles.

Meh, no much less so than people reacting to Yamauchi announcing GT 5 would have car damage...
