I was also a big fan of the series, up until IX (the last true FF imo),and I kinda liked XII as well.So I'm going to buy the game and finish it,but I'm not that excited about its release

I'm a massive JRPG fan and I've never been hyped for this game.
Being a 'JRPG' fan doesn't automatically = 'Final Fantasy' fan. That's one of the biggest misconceptions here in the 'west'. That if you like one genre, you automatically have to like every hyped, big name game from a series that comes out. And while I like some Final Fantasy games, I've never seen anything from FFXIII specifically that makes me interested in it.
Needless to say, there are many people out there who aren't hyped for this game. And I am one of them.

With that said, I like the fact that this game will be linear (kind of à la FFX). I barely have any time to play games anymore, so this is great news. Sucks for MMORPG fans that like heavy sidequests and stuff I guess, but for me it seems like the perfect RPG. It gets to the point according to the big lines of some reviews.

Yeah so I understand that being a JRPG fan does not equal being a Final Fantasy Fan.
But still, the series has been around for more than 20 years now. If you're not comfortable trusting the quality of the games by now, you're never going to be, so stop bothering us who do.

Count me in. Couldn't care less about FF13...only FFVersus13 has my interest.
I'm a huge FF fan also but i'm not as hyped as i once was because of reviews. I'll still get the game but since FFX, its gone down hill so much. FF12 was the worst FF game i ever played and it got a 92 on metacritic, did i mention i hated it with a passion. But this is all my opinion and i will still pick up ff13 hoping it wont be another ff12 for me.

Dude I don't even understand how you're not hyped...like honestly, God of War 3 over Final Fantasy XIII? The game is freaking gold like seriousley...One of the top 3 Final Fantasy games.
I'm not hyped in the least. I don't get hyped for Final Fantasy games anymore. I haven't for sometime. Starting with FFVII the series has been hit or miss with me. Actually more miss than hit. When new FF game releases, I just hope it doesn't suck. I've only liked two out of the last six games.
I have never really been a Final Fantasy fan, so I am not hyped.
