Ok.

omg

I am pleased. <3 Media Molecule.

This doesn't effect anything, they still have 2 games left out of their exclusivity contract.

So?  All I care about is what Media Molecule can do with the increased manpower, budget, and technology that comes with being first party.  The guys made LittleBigPlanet with a team of only 37 people.  Imagine what they could do with more.

Hell, look at what Guerrilla Games pulled off after being bought by Sony.

Increasing the size of the developer and the budget doesn't make for better games always. Some of the best developers make do with relatively fewer developers working than their peers.

But he was spot on with his analysis of my opinion.  And I don't see how him quoting you is any different from you quoting me in the first place. Stop being rude.

I didn't realise you were a question mark.

How can a studio which makes its name in innovative content do better with more developers? Im just concerned that too many chefs will spoil the brew. Why the hell would I be interested in his opinion? I was hoping for further elaboration from you, because LBP is one of my favourite games of the generation also.

They don't necessarily need to expand.  However, if need be, they are given the option too.  If they need more people, they can get them.  If they need more money, it's there.  If they need assistance on their engine, they can give Naughty Dog a ring.  They simply have access to more avenues of assistance now that they are owned by Sony, should they need it.  Provided they know what they're doing (and it seems they do), this should only lead to better things.

And if you don't care about someone's opinion, then simply don't respond.  Don't lash out.  It's disrespectful and adds nothing to the discussion.  If anything, it leads to fights.

It didn't matter if you were interested in my opinion or not, I was further elaborating on his words. You really need to relax.

You didn't add anything relevant to what I wanted to hear sorry.

That's one way to keep your exclusives...

at least they don't buy their exclusivity like microsoft

There is a difference between buying a very talented, small studio that comes to you for help on a big award winning game... And paying off a big third party company to keep a game or DLC away from another platform forever, or for a certain period of time.

OT: Great news. Should see more and more great new games come from MM now!

you are right. In MS's case, they buy the product separate from the company. They give the company that creates the game greater creative rights and are allowed to branch out and do whatever they want with their next game. This is like an inventor who sells his product to the highest bidder who then produces and sells his invention. He also has potential to earn a bucket load of money if he invents something popular or necessary.

In Sony's case, they buy the developer (and the games that go with it). The reduce the creative rights of the company and they are now forced to develop on Sony's platforms. This is like an inventor who works for a big firm. They may tell him what to work on or not, but the invention is owned by the company and they aren't obligated to pay him royalties, but he might make the company rich.

I personally don't have a problem with either method, as they are two means to an end. MS's method has a 1 time effect on the consumer. Sony's has a much longer effect. However, Sony is the one claiming that buying a game is "evil" (bribing). Yet, they essentially the same thing while taking away creative rights for a larger chunk of $$$ up front.

You can't be serious....

In what ways was something like LBP reduced in creativity? I don't see any new takes on game development when it comes to Microsoft. Whereas with Sony, we have very new and creative games. You think Microsoft would've supported the development of Heavy Rain? Doubt it.

Btw, do you see them sticking with just the LBP IP on PS3 or trying something new?

They'll definitely stick with the concepts and ideas LittleBigPlanet was designed aound.  I can't really see them making a LittleBigPlanet 2 specifically, as they've been significantly improving LittleBigPlanet through updates as it is, but I could see them possible taking "Play.Create.Share" down other avenues.  Maybe a 3D platformer or something.

Or who knows, maybe they will do a LittleBigPlanet 2, completely overhauling the engine, allowing for improved water physics, improved performance when using water, large possible levels, etc.  Who knows.

Either way, their next project will at least be a spiritual successor to LittleBigPlanet, in the way Shadow of the Colossus is a sequel to Ico, or Flower is related to Flow.
