I realized no one really talks about these little gems and it's a shame. It's hard to get good info on games to buy and games to ignore. No one credible reviews them(Come on VGC, get your act together!). No one I talk to buys them. I've been surfing the web trying to find whatever user impressions I could and buying games based on that.
So here's the deal with Indie games. They came at three price points: 80pts($1), 240pts($3) and 400pts($5). They're typically on the short side, usually only taking at most a couple of hours to beat. They're like a value menu double stacker at Wendy's, oh so tasty, but over far too soon. The best part though is there are too often times you have something like a dollar in points left over and didn't know what to do with it. Now you do. So for those of you that have purchased some, leave your impressions here. Let everyone know the price, the length of the game and some general impressions. I'll try to keep a running log of games worth buying in different categories and price points.
Shoot1Up-80pts
I'll let the trailer speak for itself. The game took me about 30 minutes to beat on normal, but harder difficulty raises the length of the levels, and different level paths make multiple playthroughs fun. The art is gorgeous, there's 2 player local co-op, and frankly this game is too damn fun to cost a dollar. Plus the final boss is a fembot with metallic breasts that shoot bullet hell at you and rocket off for a killer attack. Total win! If you have a dollar and love SHMUPs, you must own this game.
I MAED A GAM3 W1TH ZOMBIES 1N IT!!!1(Yes that is exactly how it's spelled)-80pts
4 player local co-op dual stick shooter like Geometry Wars, except it's with freaking hordes of zombies. So essentially Robotron 2084 meets Left 4 Dead. The screen constantly switches to new grounds to walk across, and when you watch the trailer, yes that song seriously plays in the game as do those crazy ass backgrounds. The game doesn't have any length I believe. It lasts as long as you do, just like all old school games. All for yet again...a dollar.
More games coming soon. Post your own also. Try and leave videos if possible.
