Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So what will Nintendo have for 2H 2010?

With the media summit filling out Nintendo's 1st half more fully than expected, what does everyone see Nintendo delivering in the 2nd half for this year?  Big Wii launches like Zelda and Wii Relax?  Pikmin 3?  Pokemon Generation 5 (Japan at least)?  Maybe the DS 2/successor?  Surprise localizations (Last Window, Reginliev, etc)?  DSi Virtual Console (Game Boy games!)?

Six months is a long time... can they even top their epic 1H 2010 lineup, or will it be 2008 all over again?

Zelda Wii quite possible, wii relax, pikmin 3, and maybe a few more suprises.

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

DS2, Zelda Wii, Wii Relax, Retro's game, Monado, Reginliev, and maybe something big we're completely unaware of. That's a little optimistic, but most of these seem like they *should* be coming for the holidays.

If it turns out this way, it makes Nintendo's strategy and planning for 2009/2010 look terrible, because things ended up so weak in 09 and so strong in 10.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Looking at the stuff we know about, I'm leaning towards their US software lineups including (but not limited to)...

Wii

  • FlingSmash (Artoon) confirmed
  • PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure (Creatures Inc.)
  • The Legend of Zelda (Nintendo EAD)
  • Wii Relax/Vitality (Nintendo EAD)
  • XenoBlade (Monolith Soft)
  • Zangeki no Reginliev (Sandlot) maybe

Nintendo DS

  • Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (Armor Project/Level 5) confirmed
  • Friend Connection (Nintendo SPD)
  • Inazuma Eleven (Level 5) maybe
  • Last Window: Midnight Promise (Cing) maybe
  • Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light (HAL Laboratory)
  • Professor Layton and the Time Machine (Level 5)

WiiWare

  • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blazing/Lightning/Stormy Adventure Squad (Chunsoft)

DSiWare

  • Card Hero: Speed Battle (Intelligent Systems) maybe
  • Game & Watch Series (Nintendo SPD)
  • Kappa Road (Brownie Brown) maybe

...I don't think we'll see The Last Story, Kirby Wii, Golden Sun DS or Pokemon Gen 5 in the US until 2011.  I also still doubt we actually get Line Attack Heroes... the Grezzo team had an awful track record at Square (Dawn of Mana) and honestly, the game just seems conceptually confusing.  Seems to be a glorified puzzle/action game with high production values, really something unlike a retail product NOA would be interested in imo.  I really think it's going to get Disaster'd.

well demotruk if the games aren't ready then they can't release them so what would you prefer unready games or good games that are ready to be out?

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

What happened to Shantae for DSi?

I think Retro Studios' big game is bound in for this year, too. I can't imagine they would keep pushing it back. It will have been 3 whole years since Corruption, and Corruption was probably mostly done by Q2 2007, and just percolated until Q3, and Trilogy was no real effort on their part, nothing to distract them from whatever else they're up to anyway

I agree with a lot of the rest of this, though. Reginliev i'd put up as more of a possibility beause it seems like one of those games that was just meant to be localized, though one could gather that impression from Disaster, too...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Zelda, Xenoblade, Fling Smash, Line Attack Heroes, maybe Pikmin 3,but, I doubt it.

Better planning. Delays are a fact of life in the games industry, good planning takes these things into account and should manage a steady stream of releases even without them all arriving on schedule. I'm sure they also thought they'd have better third party support in late 08 and 09, they probably also thought Wii Music and Animal Crossing wouldn't flop, but they didn't have much prepared for the possiblility that they did.
