I am not certain if they are able to tell the difference between a PS3 slim and a phat, furthermore some people are reporting that not all of the phat ones are having issues. From my point of view, they would need to give a little "something" which would satisfy everyone and not only the ones who are troubled by this problem. Lets see how Sony play their cards, I am sure they must be working overtime at the moment.

It has always been a global issue, and I know exactly what Sony are doing. They are working on fixing it

I do not have a ps3 myself but I am curious why it will not allow you to play offline games?

Well as I am sure you know, Playstation games reward the player with so called trophies. These trophies are loaded once you start the game, because all the trophy information is sitting with Sony on some server, it fails to load the necessary trophies for the given game, resulting in an error message which consequently shuts down the game :(
