From Kotaku:
UPDATE 3 - Citing unnamed "developers and studios", British site Develop say that the issue is affecting titles currently in production for the PlayStation 3, with debug consoles - used by developers to actually make games - thrown "into a rebooting cycle, due to an endlessly-looping error message".
Man guys this could be really really bad news if their losing information on games curently in production....hopefully they get a fix soon cause this could turn out awful

you could..
that is the option, but a) you still do not have the update to your BIOS
B) most important it would break your warranty.

That picture is just of the 336 PS3's they bought a long time ago that I knew wasn't Slims. But when they got the 2200 it was around December 2009 so they should of been the Slims. |
But slims have no Other OS function what use would they be aside from watching BD or playing games?

If you have a CECHL or CECHP series model yes just look at the bottom of your PS3.
Will my cousin have trouble if he turns on his PS3?

no problem, I think this has more to do with the Mother board manuf. than it would be Sony, most likely FOXCONN last time i heard they were the one's manuf. the Mother Board for Sony.

OMG! Was Gran Turismo 5 affected?

Wow haha. I got to know this on the front page on the news site I usually visit. It seems my fat PS3 is safe for now.
Interesting to say at least. I've seen a date bug on some time now. This is like Gears of War PC (playable only on Janary) plus the millenium bug. I wonder what actually happenned? It seems that the cmos battery on older PS3s screwed up with 29th February or something like it. I hope this do not lead to a major bios malfunction. At worse Sony would have to replace some 10 million PS3s! (I'm kidding! I mean, kind of).
Don't worry guys, most likely you'll get some free games.
They can update the BIOS through a firmware update. You will not be able to download the firmware update on your PS3, but can download it from the net onto a USB and update it that way.
