Didn't the Gameboy last 9 years (89-98?)
The DS is doing well; momentum is obviously lower, but it sold 300k+ units this past week.
Until it starts hacking blood like the PSP, I don't see a DS2 for maybe 2 more years, but what do I know.

If Nintendo feels that 1) they have a good idea for the next system, and 2) the new system won't hurt the DS sales too much, we'll see at least an announcement.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

I think we might see an announcement this year with a release early next year in Japan and then the US following with a release about six months after that.
