You know when I was reading the thread and what some were saying and the article was saying, I couldn't help but think the exact same thing.

OT: well I try not to get hyped on things stated like this, because they are said all the time and then turn out to be something rather disappointing when it comes to the nature of the surprise.  But i would think Sony would have new projects in the works, ones that would be pretty visually impressive so this isn't to abnormal.

Why does everyone automatically assume he's only talking about graphics?

He could be talking about the scale of the game or the gameplay for all we know.

They were talking about impressive graphics sure, but he could be talking about a game that's impressive in other areas.

It's very possible Sony has been holding back whatever they have so Heavy Rain and GOWIII can hold the title of top of the line graphics the time that they're reviewed.

I don't think so, it's never solely about graphics. Of course we're very visually focussed beings, so it's an important element though.

I always found it funny when many 360 fans made such a big deal about most oftenly micro differences between PS3/360 ports. However exclusives like Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain and God of War 3 show really well what so much improved graphics can mean for games. But it never only regards graphics, but for instance online features, possible world complexity, better audio, etc, etc made feasible by concentrating on very powerful hardware. All contributing to making a game more compelling.

what a ridiculous statement to get out of this.  The reason people talk mostly about graphics when something isn't out yet is because that's basically all there is to discuss, if we got a demo for it we'd talk about gameplay, and once we play it we can talk about story but based solely on trailers the only thing you can usually tell is generalities about story and gameplay and the only thing you can directly discuss with any modicum of assuredness is the graphics/presentation as a whole.

We dont know what the game looks like, all we know is "its gonna impress us". They could say the story is going to blow us away and nobody would be talking about it but since its graphics people are hyping it already.

 

Lets see what it is before we start hyping it.

To be fair we never got a chance to start hyping it, this thread was derailed quite early.

Graphics in a game matter depending on the genre....or the nature of the game...I won't say anything more about it

as for the thread: I personally want to BELIEVE it's about AGENT! But I'm certain we will hear more of that game within the next couple of months anyways :D
