Worst: eMachines for sure.
Best: Asus, Acer, Apple.
Really opinions are pretty much unimportant. Our sample size is pretty anecdotal. The studies I have seen show Apple and Asus are the best with HP and Dell consumer machines pretty low.

A lot of the opinions on here are based more or less on subjective personal preferences. Like an irrational hate for Apple Computer resulting in listing them as the "worst" manufacturer of computers when all major consumer surveys consistently have them rated at the top or near the top of all lists.
I'm inclined to agree with the consumer surveys though. If I were to buy a PC laptop today, odds would be highly in favor of it being an Asus.
I own an HP, and have had minimal problems with it (most parts were swapped out over time, including the motherboard), but based on parts used and build quality, I probably wouldn't buy another HP. The CPU, DVD drive and the case (including TV and video capture card/media remote) are about the only parts I'd keep.
I'd buy another Dell display, and I would also consider buying a Dell laptop based on their current line up. Can't vouch for their desktop PCs, but they do make solid workstations.
