Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Hands on: Xbox Project Natal review

Yeah.
They could have called it that as well.
Still i'm not surprised people are getting too hung up on one word in the title.

They should be focusing on how will FPS games work?

Game journalism is about as deep as celebrity interviews promoting films during the news. Ofcourse, these films are inevitably owned by the same companies that own the tv stations.

I think he answers the question without the reporter having to actually inconvenience Hofto with the usual casual/core meme, "But Natal is a social technology, enabling us to introduce casual games we haven't been able to create before. It will be focused on fun, simple games."

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

When will normal people be allowed to play Natal?

First you have to be hyped up on Sugar, then you have to swear through the mic and make mom joke in a XBL match then you can play Natal.

I think most of XBL is ready for it.

I wonder how upset the haters would be if this thing sold like crack pie?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

oh no... a positive article... no doubt there wioll be some ,miserable sods along shortly to whine about something.

I am currently playing a game that would suit natal perfectly... Heavy Rain. They shoud aim for a Heavy Rain type game at launch and not just "fun" and "party" stuff.

Yeah heavy rain would be interesting with Natal. Also the Combo of Controller and natal could be good depending on the creativity developers have.

It all depends on Software and if those games are actually bringing something new to the table. We just have wait and see. at the momen I am still sceptical the control of the menus sounds great but everything else I have seen/read not so much.

Still don't see how you will play first person shooters, Action games, etc etc. None of this seems possible without having to buy extra attachments. How do you zoom? walk? turn around? all his stuff. The idea sounds cool. I did all this with the eyetoy on the PS2. And it was fun for a while. But it gets old. If they find a way to make it work with real high end games with real developers then they may have a good thing. Till then its a rip off of the eyetoy and just a gimmick.

Thing is, I don't want this to be for FPS games, action games, or the sort. I want it to have it's own kind of games. Ones designed specifically from scratch for Natal.

Go get a ps2 and an eyetoy. Its been done. Its not as amazing as people make it sound.

As for the other HD console, go buy a Wii. Motion controls have been done before. Its not amazing as people make it sound.

No one is calling it the second coming of christ tho.

so sexy so far. but i need more games to look at before i'm sold. =]

You have a Wii under your avatar. Therefore you should already know the answer to the question that you posed.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba
