This and Disney's Guilty Party make it seem like they really get it. Guilty Party has the potential to be the next Just Dance-style breakout hit, and that game plus Epic Mickey are on the extremely short list of 3rd party games that i think could actually sell Wiis, because they do something different than what Nintendo already provides, but along the same thought processes as Nintendo

Monster Hunter Tri could possibly be on that list too, depending on how Nintendo markets it.

How do you figure?

The great mystery board games and social games (eg. werewolves) require players to access info secretly. With the Wii, all info is available publicly because it's on the TV screen. Which leads me to believe the game is limited to co-operatively or competitively figuring out the mysteries together. So essentially it's a dynamic adventure game, with multi-player but without the sort of play mechanics that make for a truly great group mystery game. I can see that working out well, but I can't see it being a break out hit like Just Dance.

What am I missing on this one?

It's a new, unique idea on party games, and in a similar vein of thought to NSMBWii, can get people working together or working competitively. It's basically a board game translated to the screen, but taking advantage of that transition (at least as far as i can see)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I can see it being good, and selling well. But Just Dance is going to end up somewhere between 4 and 6 million. I do think a mystery party game could do that, Cluedo and mafia/werewolves are hugely popular, it's just that it's the fact that different players know different information that make those games (or they could even be a traitor in the camp).

I'd love to see a mystery game tried using single card multiplay on DS or Wii-DS connectivity, though.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Guilty Party will need effective advertising. Otherwise it'll get overlook on crowded Wii shelves.

I'm not sold on Epic Mickey. Glad if it's quality but quality alone doesn't sell a game. I can understand Epic but this game looks dark and how does dark and Mickey go together? What audience does that appeal too? Wii's audience is also largely female, and this game doesn't look like it would appeal to them. So if it's too dark for young kids, too kiddy for older adults, not appealing to females then it doesn't have much of a market left on Wii.

Yep, this guys sounds like he knows his business.

I'm a little puzzled about the decision to focus the Marvel IPs on the HD consoles, though. Since when are superheroes not for kids?

About the mid 90's.  Have you seen comics lately?

They rip corpses in half, peoples are decapitated, having limbs cut off, on screen though covered sex scenes, death, suicide, stories about rape.

The mainstream Marvel universe is NOT a safe place for kids.

Sadly DC Comics is no better at times. It seems at times that the Superman comics are the only safe ones to read if you looking for something to show kids and adults. Where you don't have to worry about tons of sex or people being ripped in half or having holes put their chest. Everything else is a real gamble. For example the Teen Titans title, where the characters are actually aged from 16 to 19 or 20 I say was one of the most violent and filled with characters being killed left and right. Was considered gore porn for a while there as well due to how gorey and violent it was. DC as a whole doesn't push things as much as Marvel thankfully but it can be bad at times.

Still it's a trend that gaming has gone through. Thankfully companies such as Nintendo and a few others have stopped the entired industry from going in that direction. All the while some seem to want to do away with Nintendo as a company by ignoring it. They have no clue of the damage that could be done if they ever got their way . Comic wise everyone seemed to jump on the violence and sex bandwagon around the 90s save for  a very few select titles such as Disney and Archie comics. Strange enough that was the time comic sales took a nose dive. Granted gaming took off around that time but I don't doubt the embrace of all the violence and sex had it's hand in it taking place as well
