About the mid 90's. Have you seen comics lately?
The mainstream Marvel universe is NOT a safe place for kids. |
Sadly DC Comics is no better at times. It seems at times that the Superman comics are the only safe ones to read if you looking for something to show kids and adults. Where you don't have to worry about tons of sex or people being ripped in half or having holes put their chest. Everything else is a real gamble. For example the Teen Titans title, where the characters are actually aged from 16 to 19 or 20 I say was one of the most violent and filled with characters being killed left and right. Was considered gore porn for a while there as well due to how gorey and violent it was. DC as a whole doesn't push things as much as Marvel thankfully but it can be bad at times.
Still it's a trend that gaming has gone through. Thankfully companies such as Nintendo and a few others have stopped the entired industry from going in that direction. All the while some seem to want to do away with Nintendo as a company by ignoring it. They have no clue of the damage that could be done if they ever got their way . Comic wise everyone seemed to jump on the violence and sex bandwagon around the 90s save for a very few select titles such as Disney and Archie comics. Strange enough that was the time comic sales took a nose dive. Granted gaming took off around that time but I don't doubt the embrace of all the violence and sex had it's hand in it taking place as well
