Forums - Sony Discussion - Playstation "Seal of Quality"

i haven't plugged in my ps phat but it was working when i boxed it up (although it had to be played upside down). same goes for my ps2 phat.

here's hoping my 60 GB ps3 hangs in there... because jacky says they're not releasing ps4 anytime soon.

why did you send a 190$ check? it cost me and my bro only 150$ a few weeks to months ago. also why didnt you replace your harddrive with a dud (cheaper 15gb harddrive)? they specifically tell you that if 'they [sony] cant repair it, they will send you a new one and WILL NOT swap the harddrives'.

my bro payed 600$ for an original launch ps3, that ylod on him 3 years later, and all he had to do was pay 150$. sony couldnt (or didnt) repair it sent him a new original 60 gb ps3 and gave him a new warranty as well!!!

I haven't had problems with my PS3 but good lord the sixaxis that came with it was utter garbage, one of the worst pieces of hardware with the sony brand sticked on it.

My old Ps1 and Ps2 phat are dead but my PS2 slim is still working.

Sorry buddy, but the only console made with true quality parts is Nintendo. The longevity is amazing. I am saying this without being a Nintendo fan.

all three are made with quality part's it's just that quality control may not be as good as in other places and that may have to do with which company produces the part's and where and their track record is in production, though I have my self had good luck with every Nintendo system and Playstation system i have ever owned, though not so much as with Microsoft , not because it's bad or anything, my first xbox was stolen.

The original Xboxes are of higher quality parts than the PS1 and PS2. The 360 was sabotaged, but now has a lower failure rate. Nintendo is untouchable in quality.....you could drop that thing offf of a roof. The PS3 was launched as a $600 system with "high quality" parts. That makes Sony look bad. Microsoft has already paid their dues for screwing up, so its about time Sony started answering to why the 40, 80 and 60GB systems are getting the YLOD.

Only Nintendo systems are built to last. The others just want to break down, I don't think that you ought to keep your 60GB when you get it back, get a slim as they are mucho more reliable.

if your trying to imply that the PS3's ylod is on the same order of failure rate % as the xbox360's trouble?

no way stage not even close, with anytime you ramp up production you will alway's have a failure % rate but as far as the PS3's failure rate is well within

the 3%, not so when it was the XBOX360%, notice I did say was, microsoft has done a great job in lowering that failure rate %

Well, I finally got my PS3 back. And hooray for me, Sony didnt send me back my original unit as promised. I sent a letter about my dog and everything, and I told the Sony rep my situation, that id rather wait for them to fix my ps3 then for them to send a refurbished unit. It turns out this unit is even older then my original one. All my Cd's, all my pictures, all my game saves from ps1, ps2, and ps3 are now gone, including videos of me and my friends on there are now lost including the pictures of my dog that died 2 weeks ago. :( Thanks alot Sony. Thanks for your playstation shortages that all my friends are trying to buy a ps3 but cant and thanks for the new PSN network failure day that IGN is flaming you for. I'm a disappointed playstation fan ATM. I guess one thing can be said that i learned from this.... no matter how good of quality of something u think ur buying , always make backups.

Is there ANY way possible at all to ever get those pictures off my harddrive if i dont reformat it?

there must be a good computer janitor out there who can retrieve those photos somehow...
