Forums - Microsoft Discussion - RUMOR: Natal going to be really expensive!

Its not gonna be over $200 ill guarentee you that infact id be VERY surprised if they price it over $100. M$ wants to gain marketshare with the NATAL and they wont do that without some AAA software and a cheap entry price.

Long Live SHIO!

If its over $100 nobody will buy it. I think $60 (cost of a game, bit more then a regular controller) is the right price if they actually want it to sell.

So if it does cost $50 to manufacture... the price has to be more than $50??? That's a wild assumption.  Hardware manufactures never sell below the cost of hardware.

Price will be $50 to $99.  If it's towards $99 it will probably include a game or games.  Probably something with a bunch of cheesy mini games.

if what is said is true $50 to produce the Natal than its safe to say the retail price for Natal will be around $150 or $199.
another thing M$ would do is bundle Natal with the elite.

Natal isnt going to cost that much. MS will sell at cost or small loss to gain market penetration.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

SuperMarion Bros. are coming to the XBOX!?

I always wanted a sidescrolling platformer based around "You Got Served!"

I don't know, it sounds fishy. Natal is quite important for Microsoft so I doubt they would give it such a high price. If the manufactoring cost is $50 then no way is it gonna cost more than $100. Imo Microsoft should be prepared to sell Natal at a loss just to keep the price low and reach out to as many customers as possible.

there is no such thing as selling at lost for M$, in M$ mind is always profits, profits, profits

Microsoft spin to a high price will be that a single camera serves for many players, as opposed to Wii and PS3 that need as many wiimote\arc peripherals as players.

At the end, for entertainment value, a single 100€ camera will be more affordable then 3 or 4 wiimote&nunchuks and arc's&nuncharc's.

It's a good spin and they will most likely use it. To bad it doesn't bring the price down and so the camera is doomed if it is really expensive as the rumour claims.

with this being in the new"s also:
While reports circulated last week that Project Natal would launch sometime in November 2010, Xbox UK boss Neil Thompson says the details were only rumors. Speaking with Eurogamer at a launch event in London for the console's new social media applications, Thompson said the rumors "weren't accurate" and claimed Microsoft has yet to determine "a lot of things" related to the launch of its new motion-sensing technology.

According to the rumors, Microsoft was set to ship around five million Project Natal units next fall, alongside 14 supporting titles at a price point that could go as low as $50 (£30). When asked about the rumored details and price, Xbox's head of Europe, Chris Lewis, jokingly added, "Now you know better than to listen to that stuff! We will announce in good time."

However, Lewis did remind Eurogamer that Microsoft is striving for "unique" and "compelling" experiences with the technology. "That has to happen and will happen," he said. As long as whatever "happens" doesn't follow Microsoft's traditional Xbox 360 peripheral pricing scheme, we'll be happy.
I think until we get more information we have no Idea yet and it's just a guess.
