Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Forza 3: what went wrong :C

Seriously Turn 10 have all the resources this gen. They should focus more on their vision than trying to beat GT.

I dont hate Forza or anything in fact i like all racing games i dont really have a bias, but turn 10 made this into one big fanboy war and it really put me off buying it. I bought race on and superstars v8 instead.

Like Seriously what is turn 10's true ambition? to be the number one racer or to 1up GT 5? this is the gap between GT5 and Forza 3. Nearly every action they take is a response to steal as many sales from GT as possible.

Forza 2 sold 1 million sales well but after that the pace was glacial. MS heavily discounted the game and bundled it to 4 million to get a good audience im assuming they were supposed to capitalize on Forza 3, which looks to sell maybe 4-5 million but is it really worth all that trouble? 300 Staff members huge marketing all of that PR? surely they can beat GT alone just by word of mouth and a good Solid PR campaign that focuses on Forza's strengths...actually turn 10 is actually starting to only do that now with their documentaries but they pwned themselves badly when they started to talk big.

Also with the plethora of car updates im thinking forza 3 plans to contine this untill they can get closer to the 1000 mark then at some point release forza 4 with 200 or more cars with much of the same content but they'll probably have about 800 cars or so for their next installment i wonder if that is enough to topple GT

Forza sell on the same lines as GT? GT is a game that can sway people to pay $300-$400 on a Playstation. GT5 will outsell Forza 1, 2, and 3 within it's first year. The difference between GT and Forza is that you don't need update's for GT,  it ships with all the cars and tracks right out of the package. What Turn 10 doesn't realize is that if you make an incomplete package then you aren't going to have sustained sales. People aren't going to go out and buy 360's just because some racing sim is getting 4-8 cars as downloadable content, I mean come on let's be realistic. People look at the content that they are initially paying for then make judgements on that and I know PD does not dissapoint, it's quite known that Yamauchi is something of a perfectionist.

Forza has soo many details, it´s a game for gamers and for who really like driving... I think all this details level got away casual gamers..

PSN: franco-br
MGS4, GH, MW2, GT5p, WipeoutHD, etc..etc..

I didn't like the feel of this game at all. The cars don't handle realistically (from my view point of owning a 350z) i must say it just doesn't feel like a sim >.

i love this game, and i love playing it with my mates online...

its just so much damn fun!!

then again im just a casual racer gamer...

so i dont get it with all the hate...

I LOVE IT! :)

any bet some ppl who are saying the game isnt that good probably dont even have it or havnt even played it.

but i love the game, its just so damn fun for me

Most of these reviews are as a result of paid editorial which i've observed esp. with M$ titles.
Wait and see when alan wake comes and would score higher than Heavy rain.
But let Gt5 come out and a would score less than Forza 3.

M$ invests much into marketing no mater how the game would appeal to gamers. These sites also gets their revenue from such marketing. This would be also repeated with natal which would end up as a white elephant.

Let's help save the industry from the pits of destruction.

Check this Game  Flip Runner

Forza 2 was like a 3rd world country and I imagine Forza 3 is to... there are a few awesome people some less then shitty people and a ton of shitty people... after a while people just give up

Really?  That's a shit ton of reviewers they had to pay off...

the thing about Ferrari is true.  Not only that but way back in NFS High Stakes in 1999, Ferrari refused to allow the 550 and F50 in the game to have any damage.  All the other cars had some form of damage. It wasnt even realistic damage.  The only other manufacturer to suck that much was Mercedes.  Lambo was like "fuck it, tear up our cars all you want"

I dont care if damage is realistic I just want it in my racing games.  It is fun to bash up cars, and especially in games where you are allowed to drive backwards without disqualification. The only use I have for Motegi circuit is to drive backwards full speed into oncoming opponents andthrow car parts all over the place.
