The summit is exactly what we SHOULD have expected it to be. Although I wonder why they didn't just save some of these announcements for GDC, considering it's only in a couple of weeks.

Always keep your expectations very low in situations like this, because you are most likely to be disappointed.
puffy said: The lack of a big announcement was the biggest announcement? I could actually see Cammie coming on stage and saying that :P We already basically know what Nintendo will throw at us for the holidays and that's Wii Vitality/Wii Relax (whatever it's going to be called) and Zelda Wii. I think E3 will be pretty big this year, my guess it'll include: - Metroid: Other M on stage demo as the game releases a couple of weeks after E3 - Vitality Sensor final hardware and software - Retro Studios next title with a tentative 2011 release date - Pikmin 3 announced with a tentative 2011 release date - The Legend of Zelda: Wii unveiled with full stage demo and trailer - Next generation Pokemon titles shown off - A couple of brand new Nintendo IP's for DS and DSi to revitalise lagging software and hardware sales Probably a couple more little things for WiiWare and DSi but that'd probably be the bulk of it. |
Pretty much what's most likely to happen, except i'd add in something about Golden Sun, Reginliev localization, Xenoblade/Last Story stuff, and change the Retro Studios date to 2010.
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
People just like to hype the living crap out of anything Nintendo-related, and in the end, it's hardly ever justified.
My advice: don't get hyped, then you won't be disappointed.
Nintendo Network ID: Cheebee 3DS Code: 2320 - 6113 - 9046
When Zelda Wii is revealed, words can not express what is going to happen.
"The Common Cold Isn't So Common During The Cold"
They just focused on just 1st half of the year. That's why we got a lack of info for vitality sensor and Zelda. At E3 will get more titles and annoucements for the 2nd half of the year
Gamerace said: I'm surprised there was no news on any expanded audience games. If Wii vitality/relax is a holiday titles that means there's nothing for the expand audience (which is the bulk of Wii owners) for almost an entire year. That will definitely hurt sales. I'd expect to see a steady sales decline for the entire year until Wii Vitality launches. SMG2 will most likely sell less than SMG, S&P2 will be niche and M:oM is 2-3m seller at best. None of these will sell any systems either. MH3 might but that remains to be seen, but again, only to the more 'core' gamer. I'm surprised to see Prince of Persia present but not Red Steel 2. Was that Ubisoft's call or Nintendo's? Frankly although it's not based on the movie, PoP is effectively a movie game, with a capped/rushed development cycle, made by a second rate studio that will most likely suck on all systems but most especially Wii. Red Steel 2 on the other hand could have used the timely promotion before launch. |
Yeah, the lack of even accepting the free publicity for Red Steel 2 has got me a little worried on my million bet.
As for the casual games, I have a feeling we're going to get that at E3. Nintendo knows that the press at their gaming summit would be purely for the gamers, where as E3 actually breaks in to the mainstream news.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.
Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
I think it had good news, if they would had given more what would they save for E3?

I agree with adding Golden Sun DS and Xenoblade/Last Story (maybe) but Reginliev won't be localised (I honestly don't know why people want it) and don't expect Retro's next game if Zelda is also releasing
I am really glad to see Nintendo hasn't lost it. They'll prove all of us who were afraid about it getting a too "casual" profile wrong.
