Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony: PSN Is 'A Lot More Egalitarian' than Xbox Live

@strategy king

why compare to ign or gamespot, those are websites, xbox is a CONSOLE

its so amatuer seeming to have those videos weaved into the interface. at least hide em a bit. and yes having a piece of eye candy would be way superior when both would be reading the SAME script. so why am i looking at mr ugly again?

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

in quality PSN is probably not better (but the gap is nothing compared to what it used to be) but in terms of value (which it seems he was reffering to here) it definately is, therefore I would agree with what he said.

My current Soul Silver Team:

I've never seen a single Eagle on PSN (animal or band member). Rob Dyer is so full of it. Besides, I thought the game was called WarHAWK. He's undercutting their own exclusive PSN IP.

nothin wrong with silent gamers, it means you can hear less childrena

It also means that the chance of you coordinating a team attack drops to zero, which is kind of important in most competitive online games.

I'll mute the children as they annoy me. The other option is far worse when playing on a large server.

What large servers?  Majority of XBL online games are P2P hosting and have small player counts.

Which makes the lack of voice chat on PSN an even more egregrious error on Sony's part.

I think XBL downloads much faster and is much nicer looking. But i only have a silver account due to any online games i play on PS3 (MAG) i dont need to pay for it even though 50 a year is a fair price and if i only had a 360 i would pay for it. Although since i dont want my comp hooked up to my TV i may get gold in the future mainly for netflicks.

You're aware PSN has netflix available now? You need the netflix disc of course to use the service, but you don't pay anything on top of what netflix charges you. Getting XBL Gold specifically for netflix when you have a PS3  (or Wii for that matter) seems like a waste of $50. There's plenty of good reasons for a PS360 owner to have a gold account, but netflix isn't one of them.

I have no gripes with my PSN download speed. It's comparable to my laptop's general interwebz wireless download performance. At 10Mbs speed from my ISP, downloading any 3Gig game/demo/file is gonna take a long time.

News to me. I think you're meaning cross game chat. In game voice chat's been around for a while I believe.

I disagree.

Xbox Live doesn't charge developers/publishers $0.11 per Gigabyte

Xbox Live has equal billing for Arcade games released with each in turn getting to front up on the front page.

Xbox Live has far more game/DLC sales so the concept that all consoles coming with a HDD is a red herring. In addition to this the #1 accessory 2009 were the points cards. This is inferred from the relative numbers of exclusive games released per platform and from statements made from certain individuals with credibility.

Xbox Live has demos on every piece of Arcade content out. This means that every developer, even those without much of a marketing budget has a chance to sell their game.

I should have said "lack of people USING voice chat". If every PS3 included a mic from launch, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Just another thing that still haunts the PS3 from launch when Sony bit off way more than they could chew...

How is voice chat relevant to being egalitarian?
