Let's see...XBL is $50 a year, and MORE people are using it then the FREE PSN...lol...seems like they are NOT equal.

No.

Excluding PSP numbers......still no

^This right here

As the PSN numbers also count accounts made online and used on PS forums and also since everyone has a psn account for everyday of the year....it easily has more people using it.

I realize your sarcasm...but alas, you're still wrong. I'll have to find the quote, but I've seen it from both Microsoft and Sony's camp. Guys from Sony have said that 75-80% of PS3s are connected to PSN (which is easy because it's free), and guys from Microsoft said that 50-60% of 360s are connected to XBL. Do the math.

Edit: Found the most recent articles, they're a little old....but do you think the percentages changed that much?

http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Only-Half-Of-Xbox-360-Owners-Have-Xbox-Live-Gold-Subscriptions-15609.html

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/18/sony-80-of-ps3-owners-active-on-psn/

PSN includes the PSP yes?

80% of PS3s. Yes PSN counts PSP numbers, but the link referred to PS3 and PS3 only. In my originaly statement, I even said "excluding PSP numbers"

You do realize that the article you posted is 2 years old......80% of ps3's 2 years ago isnt really anything to brag about expecially considering that it is free and that there are multiple accounts.

I do realize it's old, hence why I said "they're a little old, but do you think that the percentages changed that much?"

And, with a rapidly growing install base, since 2008, and PSN being a FREE service, do you think the PSN user count would just stagnate? NO! I would say the percentage of PSN users (with regard to the PS3) stayed roughly the same, if not BETTER, because more and better games have come out since.

You can make fun of the percentage as nothing to brag about....but heruamon said that more people were using XBL than PSN, and in the grand scheme of things, that's just untrue. And only in reference to the PS3, it's still untrue. Numbers don't lie, subscription fee or not. Keep on grasping at straws....

Egalitarian

Lolwhut?

adjective

asserting, resulting from, or characterized by belief in the equality of all people, esp. in political, economic, or sociallife.
Full definition on dictionary.com.

I see.

This was the first time in years that I came across an english word that I don't recognise.

So they are saying that PSN is more equal (in terms of equality) than Live?

He means that XBL gives preference to certain publishers/developers in getting their content online faster and that the PSN is more fair about it.

Whether that is true or not, I have no idea.

It's not, well not exactly.  Larger developers have a clear advantage on PSN as Sony charges the developer per MB for consumer downloads (even if they're free) and Sony forces developers to go through product approval and QA individually by region (XBL allows just one submission for worldwide release).  PSN also allows game sharing, which some developers really don't like.

From a developer's perspective, XBL is really the better deal.

Unless your game is more than what? 200MB? Then you have to jump through hula hoops just to be considered for a release on XBLA

As a user of both I couldn't disagree more.

Nope, Microsoft lifted the XBLA ceiling last summer.

They've only lifted after complaint after complaint....and big releases. Case in point: SFHD. Hadn't they lifted it...again, they would've gotten a noticeably worse version of that game.

What's gonna happen when an indie wants to make a game that exceeds their limit again? Jump through hoops, or wait for someone like, I dunno, 2K games to make the next big arcade game?

Again, there is no limit.  Microsoft lifted it last summer before Shadow Complex released.  No hoops, no complaints, no limit.

Just because you can get a ww release? If that were true, the best platform would be Steam. Obviously theres more to it than that to decide whats best for all developers. A naive respons.

Oh, Steam's by a huge margin the BEST deal.

And yeah, your response does come off a little naive. <3
