2.    Character Set Importation

Ok so regular RPG Maker users will know that it can be a pain to import non standard character sets, well I gave RPG Inventor the ability to import any type of character set without having to alter any of the scripts (like you do in RPG Maker XP).

Below you will see the dialog box for Importing a Character Set, when you choose the graphical asset, it will autodect it's resource height and width, so the only information you have to alter are the predefined values, in this case the graphic asset has 4 Rows and 4 columns, but you can use all kinds of different character sets much easier this way.

the resource importer looks better than in any RPG Maker so far.



I don't think I have the time to help you with coding and/or making graphics, I have a huge project of my own right now, but if you want tips or advice on how to further develop your editor then feel free to ask.

3.   Character Customisation

Ok so below are screenshots of the character customisation dialog, I beleive that this feature still needs some work, and from my point of view, certain parts are too much like RPG Maker XP, so any thoughts on character customisation would be appreciated, thankyou.

 

The only features changeable at the moment are Name And Age, Class And Level, Parameters, and only the Character Set for Resources, which I plan to enable animation preview on.

I am still undediced which way we are going for the battler sets, I wanted to give the user the ability to have changable weapons, and see the difference visually, but you may not be aware that this is actually not an easy task to acomplish, also I wanted to know what you thought of this idea, please let me know.

4.   Map Definition Editing

This is basically the mode where you can edit things such as Tile Walkability, A tile's Z-Order(affects the draw order of the tile) and whether the tile should be a flat texture (is always drawn before other tiles on the same layer and any layers above it, also it will not drow over your character)

This is an old picture from the the initial alpha version I did:

 

I must admit, this part is very awkward because you have to select each tile you want to alter and change the values to what you want them to be, this can be very time consuming, however again it gives your maps even more abilities to be the way you want them to be.

I wanted to allow 4-directional passage, again this is going to be awkward to implement, and currently I don't have any ideas that don't involve making this feature of the program even more complicated then what it is already.
