Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is the 360 RROD still an issue?

I am considering getting a 360, I always wanted one, but at the time when I had to chose the PS3 was the stronger choice no regrets.

But i don't want to get it and then get RROD after the warranty runs out, I don't hear as much about so I just wondering if that still an issue.

No.

No.

360s are cured of the RROD issue. 3 year extended warranty guarantees the 360 will have very few issues. Re-designs of the 360 models over the last few years have increased the reliability of 360 consoles. New models of 360 do not overheat as much the launch models. 360s have better chips in them and require less energy to power them.

360 hardware reliability is now on par with the Wii and PS3 which only have 1 or 2% failure rates. There will always be a lemon in every 100 things sold. That is life, nothing is perfect.

cool thanks

well they dont have RROD but the MW2 edition i bought in November got the E74 last week.

Definitely a good time to get one now. The Jasper chipset 360s use a lot less energy and generate less heat. They are pretty reliable. And of course you get the 3 year RRoD and e74 warranties in case something props up. My only concern with the 360 warranty is if you get an error that isn't RRoD or e74. You could work around that issue by "inducing RRoD" so that you can get M$ to ship you a new console though. lol. (I think they use a towel method or something) RRoD and e74 are covered for 3 years but the others are covered for only 1 year. Make sure to install games to your hard drive to minimize chances of a disk read error problem (though apparently Garnett's RE5 360 had a DRE problem even though he uses HD installs. That might be a "lemon in every 100" issue though.) I think that might be the most common error outside of RRoD and e74. I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with the other errors that require repair.

I would actually wait to buy an Xbox 360 right now. PS3 actually has a lot of good games coming out early this year like god of war 3. There is a good chance Microsoft will launch a new 360 bundled with natal by the end of this year. So i would probably wait until then and enjoy the PS3
