Forums - Sony Discussion - I am having MASSIVE Heavy Rain problems (No Spoilers)

Thanks.

Yeah it is really wierd. In cutscenes the game runs completely smooth and looks fantastic but during gameplay it will constantly speed up and then slow down about every 2 seconds.

The game is nowhere unplayable but it is really offputting and unattractive. It almost makes me want to put off playing the game until it gets fixed. Even my sister walked by and asked why all of the people were walking like they have a stick in their ass.

The problem is still happening even after uninstalling the patch so I dont know what to do.

Maybe they do...

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

This might have a potential to hurt sales. Didn't KZ2 have a similar problem or something with multiplayer when it was released until they patched the controls? Word of mouth spreads quick about games that are unplayable/not polished.

it's not uncommon for this to happen, especially with new DLC content/patches.
Remember Dragon Age Origins: Return to Ostagar that caused major issues so they had to pull it for a while (still not on PS3 *anger*)
and of course my favorite bugbear Bethesda with their Fallout 3 DLC that also had to be pulled.

Also, i recall Sony themselves releasing quick firmware patches for buggy firmware releases.
not uncommon but bloody frustrating.

Personally, I'd not install the HR patches until next month just so Quantic can unscramble their eggs a bit.

EDIT: it's the "fix it later" attitude I find so annoying. It's unfortunately a symptom of our modern internet enabled age, I'm afraid.

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

A good friend of mine picked up a copy earlier. He is playing the game fine but he has not installed any patches.

So far I didn't install the patch, my wife started playing a few hours ago and we experienced NO problem.

I'll keep you posted if we encounter some problem in the future (without patch).

Your wife?

Man up, give her a spank and tell her to run along, it's man-play time

If you do this and are able to tell the story...  You are the man... and extremely stupid

What?
You're telling me how we should play games in my family?

If you're selfish, that's your problem...
Heavy Rain is a game made for her. She loves it.
Just like she love Mass Effect.

Halo or Killzone is a "man" thing... Games with emotional and moral choices are for EVERYONE.

Games a little glitchy... It's frozen during load screens and I've seen some really distracting graphical bugs (a blanket in one scene went eight bit on me... lol and I've had some screen tear and some "jaggies" during panning shots). Nothing major, aside from the blanket. I think it's really distracting because most of the game looks so good, but then the stiff animation or a graphical glitch will hit, and you're like "gah!"

Nahh, I have female friends that love Halo and Call of Duty.

OT: That doesn't sound as bad as this problem though.

Everyone should read this if you're playing Heavy Rain, I don't know if the given fix works, but corrupted save data sucks.

I downloaded the patch and haven't had any problems.

For y'all having problems, just play without the patch. If it isn't playing right then download the patch to see if it helps.

man i can't get my girl to play video games anymore. She'd rather cosplay with her friends and watch anime / read yaoi. goddamnit
