That still doesn't mean that they'd tell him even if he asked.

Why would he invent a release date? What could he possibly stand to gain?

Hits? Street cred? Lulz? It doesn't really matter. I asked why he would even be told the release date. Otherwise it seems like a pretty good stab in the dark. They've done a pretty good job of holding back that information thus far so it seems strange for it to leak out just now.

Hits? He's not a gaming website, he's a TV presenter.

And it's really not difficult to imagine him saying "it's not quite right, doesn't always respond/hit detection is a bit off" and then an engineer replying that they have until October to fine-tune/perfect it.

It's a moot point though, I guess, since we already knew it would be late Q3.

To be fair, having till October to work on in does not mean it will be released in October. That might just be the date that the software is to be finalised for a November launch.

Natal hype,advertising/ marketing will be in over drive to help push Natal sales which will ultimately lead to the expansion of the growing XBox 360 user base. By the time Natal releases the XBox 360 will be closing in on 45 million console sales and with the Xmas sales period to push towards the 50 million sales total.
More money spent by Microsoft will push Natal sales through the roof. Natal as big as Halo 3?
