Forums - Sony Discussion - How much do video game programmers make?

Depends on the company, if they are in a company that is making AAA games then they'll make the most but others will get less and most people are independant.

I dunno what good employers pay, but my old boss was a skinflint used to give me 20k a year for being a software programmer, but i quit due to the stress, and the way they treated me

MATH MATH MATH

when you have math you can do whatever you want

PS : do what you LIKE  AND NOT what seems "good to be"

I just made 9 years for a job that doesnt fit me (researcher in bio) and I believe that I will do another one, less "high scholar skilled" but that fit me a lot more (teacher in bio) ...

I think that is the first time I agree with you.

I was a trainee in a bank for 2 years. Damn I hated this job. When you are in a job you can't stand, your whole life will suffer. You are always in a bad mood, your exhausted and of course, you will never be good at what you are doing.

Do what you like, no matter how much money you will earn.

Trust me anyone who is thinking about going into the trade make sure the company is a good one that respects their employee's, if they don't then it will ruin your life, it did mine, and ever since then I have not been the same.

yeah the stock market really is something. Nobody older than 45, because that is pretty old for the upcoming heart attack. This was the case in the bank I worked at. true story.

thats decent in here , here we made 1400-1800$ for software developers

and many even start at 800$ monthly.

engineers got 1800-4000$+

about how they treat you, yeah, software people are always pulled down, because they think programing it's "easy"

well it is, for people that like it.

yeah but i was the best programmer there the rest of the staff only got 14k a year, people hated me for that, and made my life a misery as a result

it is sad, programming is hard, does anyone have any advice to get my enthusiasm back, i used to love computing and programming once, it's nearly been a year since i left my old job, but yet i still feel so down
