FCC shows off two more PlayStation 3 Slim models

 


The FCC has a couple more PS3 models up their sleeves, and we're talking about the CECH-2101A and CECH-2101B. It seems that there is only one difference between the two devices, and we're talking about the hard drive type. Perhaps Sony has stumbled upon a new manufacturer for a handful of its wireless components, hence having to send the PS3 through the FCC's clutches yet again. Well, we won't really know perhaps until later as more details are revealed, but could this mean larger hard drives for everyone?

it´s 2 new models that had to go through the approval process and could explain why there are some shottages

That much i've gathered from your title, but what could that mean? Only bigger hard drives? Are there new, smaller components in there? Anything that could suggest the nature of the new models?

since it had to go through the approval process there has to be new components that has to be approved.

Maybe this is the modell that will put the ps3 into a profitable modell with smaller components or maybe a new manufacturer of said components and thats why it had to go through the approval process again.

If so, do they make those consoles, then get them approved or first approval and then produce them?

If it's the first, they might get them to the shops relatively fast. If not, this might take a while to get stocks replenished

I think thay make them first and have to have the approval to be able to deliver them.

I would imagine they have techincians that test them and know what values it must pass so they allready know before they send them for approval that they will pass and thus have been producing them allready.

There's no real indication the HDD's are even bigger [wouldn't be surprised if they were though]. This could just mean that SONY found a better dealer for the same capacity HDD's than the one's they were already getting from SeaGate.
