Forums - General Discussion - Ice Hockey: US Team defeats Canada. 5-3.

Team US smashes the Canadian team in Ice Hockey in Vancouver. 5-3. Woohoo. Another gold medal for the US team. But it means so much more for the Canadians. Too bad they lost and we won.

US withstood a siege from the Canadian team. Canada had more than double the shot attempts on goal than the US. US lead all the way and scored goals from brilliant counter attacks. American goal keeper was the hero with his outstanding saves to deny the Canadians.

US first win over Canada in Ice Hockey at an Olympic games in a very long time.

I think calling for the gold is a bit premature since we most likely would have to face Canada again to win it, and despite the game tonight they still are a good team.

Regardless, the game tonight was very entertaining, it's just too bad NBC chose to bump it to msnbc in favor of ice dancing...

We beat Canada AT WHAT THEY DO BEST!!!

I think Russia will win gold. If I had to put money down.

you can watch all the ice hockey matches online at their website (or at least that is what I saw advertised)

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

Two things that would have had a significant outcome on this game are if Mike Babcock would have left the lines alone and kept Iginla, Nash and Crosby together, and if Brodeur would have been pulled after the second or third goal leaving Fleury or Lolongo to finish the game. Hopefully Babcock realizes his mistakes, and we will see Canada with that approach in the Germany and Russia games

A two points lead is hardly "smashing" the Canadian team. Smashing is winning 18-0 like the Canadian Women's hockey team did to Slovakia.

Signature goes here!

Canada vs. Germany ... that will be ... "suspenseful". ;)

We really suck at Ice Hockey - I'm predicting a loss of epic proportions.

This was a really good game, I thought. Miller was on fire; 42 saves! Still, I felt like it could have gone either way. The Canadians were really pressing the US team for a lot of the game, and if it wasn't for Miller, the US most likely would have done a lot worse.
