They might be singing a different tune after the game releases.
Prove it Ubisoft.

Who knows, it may sell well. Without a multiplayer component, though, they have effectively alienated a sizable portion of people who buy first person shooters.
The BuShA owns all!
any game can succeed on the wii. all you need is effort. this game has effort in it. i think it will do well, but we will have to wait and see.
Finally a game designer who gets the Wii right. :) I think all the third parties should move to the Wii then they would sell more.
I got really excited about this thread when I read part of the title: "Ubisoft: Gamer's games can succeed on Wii, RS3 coming...". Then I read the part about RS2 and realized they were talking about Red Steel and not Rainbow Six. :(
Red Steel 2 looks like a solid game that makes good use of the Wii's capabilities (both from a technical standpoint as well as the input methods). I just don't think it will fare particularly well as most of the major FPS fanatics tend to invest in their PS3's, 360's and PC's and RS2 is coming out during a pretty heavy FPS time with MW2 released just months ago and BFBC2 on its way.
I would love to see this game succeed and it's the first game that I'm even considering to get for my Wii since Zelda:TP but I just don't see it being a breakout success. I think it will be similar to Mad World where it's a great game with respectable sales but nothing outstanding when compared to sales of more family and lifestyle oriented games on the Wii.
I saw this whole interview. Its good and it makes alot of sense.
I hope to christ they advertise the thing.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
So, they had been working on Red Steel 2 since Red Steel 1 shipped after all? Interesting, of course, we all know about the change in direction mid-development, but it does mean that this game has had far more dev time than Red Steel.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
