I tried my hardest when we had the official Uncharted 2 thread, and 5+ other threads about it a day :-/

If memory serves doesn't LBP take up more space than Uncharted 2? I remember reading somewhere it was like 34 or 35 gigs.

LBP? Really? I couldn't imagine that being true... Most of the content in LBP is just an appetizer to what can be done using the level editor.
contestgamer said: It may be the sound. MGS4's disk was maxed out not because of the cutscenes which is a popular misconception but because of the uncompressed sound. Not sure if this is the case with GoW3, but I can't imagine this type of game being so long as to warrant that kind of space. The graphics are incredible but so they are in UC2 and KZ2 and neither of them, to my knowledge utilized this amount of space. |
I don't know , but they refered to "TITAN'S" AS MOVABLE LEVEL'S
with the quality of those TITAN'S there is alot to them movable hair, skin textures of each TiTTAN and some of those TITAN'S ARE QUITE LARGE!
sort of like this XXX BOLO tank
Bolo Mark
XXX
Year
3356
Weight/Tons
17000
Main Armament
1 110cm Hellbore
Self-Aware
Autonomous
what is a Bolo..?
(Note. A Hellbore is a plasma weapon of staggering power measured in the Mega Ton per second range. These weapons were also used as the main batteries for Concordant Star Fleet Battle Ships. Hellbores in the 90cm and larger range could destroy orbiting spaceships from the ground with one shot.)
(Note II. Specifications for other Mark models available upon request but due to limited space we only listed the models above.)
Secondary Armament for all Bolos ranged from point defense gattling guns and rapid fire grenade launchers for anti personnel use, to VLS (Vertical Launch Systems) for missiles armed with conventional and nuclear warheads. Beginning with the Mark V one could also expect to see 60mm or larger Infinite Repeaters, laser systems, and mortar systems, mounted on board as well. One Bolo was roughly the equivalent in fire power to a division of heavy infantry with artillery support. Later Bolo models were classified as Continental Siege and Global Siege Units.
The reactive armor on a Bolo Unit of the line could withstand direct hits from all weapons systems up to, and in later models including, nuclear weapons. Each unit was also equipped with an impressive array of sensing equipment for all light conditions, IR, magnetic spectrum, and FTL. Units also came equipped with flying drones and other remote sensing capabilities, with later models having the capabilities to orbit their own MILSAT spy satellites.
If you would like to read about the fighting capabilities of these marvelous machines look for the following books and stories by Keith Laumer and other distinguished authors:
The Complete Bolo
Bolos #1 "Honor of the Regiment"
Bolos #2 "The Unconquerable"
Bolos #3 "The Triumphant"
Bolos #4 "Last Stand"

Uncharted 2 filled the 25GB single-layer disc. Naughty Dog: "We filled the Blu-ray 100 percent, we have no room left on this one. We have 25GB of data; we’re using every single bit of it.” |
yup. an since the Blu-Ray drive is a CLV in the ps3 it would not matter where the data is on the disc because the Blu-Ray disc rad's at the same speed on the disc nomatter where it is. perfect for streaming from the disc

Yeah it sounds pretty bad ass but we'll have to see how that works out in practice. But still, I don't think the Titans would fill up 35 GB's. They're essentially just moving environments, but environments nonetheless. I don't think more texture work would go into them than any other.
Disk space dont mean jack shit, they multiply the data for faster loading and uncompressed audio. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to bash the game, I'll eventually get it when it go on sale some day just like how I buy every other games. Bringing the omfg this game take huge amount of space to try to justify the game or hype up the game is just full of shit, give me the actual game length or publisher can stfu with this bullshit hype about disk space. Just watch next developer will say we max the dual layer, bring on that triple layer! then found out later on its just another 8-10 hr game.
I love hearing how much space Sony's exclusives use, it tells us just how much variety we'll see in each of the levels. PS3 exclusives always seem to have quite a bit more variety than multiplatform games, except for a few. I hate playing through similar looking areas over and over again.

Pfft, ignorance.
"Blu-ray was indispensable to achieve the graphic quality of Uncharted. We fill the disc at 91 percent and it's optimized, meaning we don't duplicate any data. That includes all our game data, sounds, 7 spoken languages and 102 minutes of movie."
Only lazy 3rd-parties don't optimize.

lol @ pk9394
how ignorant, bigger disc space dont mean more hours play(can depend on title though). its more grafix and audio assets etc which will show in gow3
dunno why your hating on it, i guess you will have to be proven wrong
