once you start watching more BR films and then go back to dvd, you will see a big difference in image quality. it will look blurrier and noway near as sharp.

Its not something u notice straight away, it is something you notice once BR becomes the norm for you.

The best example is Transformers 1+2. When you pop the BR in, you see the Paramount logo and you think wow that is pretty sharp and then you have these separator lines wash over the image turning it into HD and you think "fuck thats sharp".

Certain things like water, fire, dust etc also look a hell of a lot nicer and the navigation is friggin awesome.

I think people keep forgetting, you dont have to just buy BR if you own a BR player. I usually buy most movies on DVD still, but the big blockbusters that are filled with explosions and sfx, those look amazing and worthy of a BR purchase.

Prices may not be great, but I see lots offers where you can pick up 2 for £20, which isnt too bad.

480 doesn't look that bad does it?

on a non upscaling dvd player yep. even the ones that does.

no, it doesn't. I have a non-upscalling DVD player on a 55" 1080p TV. Guess what? The TV does the upscaling for me. So unless you have a craptacular TV it'll look better than that. The most reasonable explanaion on how that image was created was a non-upscaled 480i image was taken, blown up, and then shrunk (maybe even in MSPaint )

i got transformers blu ray and DVD, compared 2 next to each other on the ps3, and its worlds difference. :p

like Youtube VS h264. :p

Ive already switched to Blu-Ray since 2007 :)

I find it hard to watch DVD's now, not because there bad, but because I've seen better. Though like someone previously mentioned, I also don't buy any Blue Rays. I usually pick up one's that would enhance the experience. For example I bought The Dark Knight, Braveheart Special Edition and Star Trek in Blue Ray recently. Then I bought the first season of Supernatural and Spirited Away on DVD.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Well Ive bought all Lost seasons in Blu-Ray...There's not gonna be any series like Lost for a long time. :)

No, the year for Blu-ray was about 2 years ago. If you don't have it yet, you are becoming extremely late to the party.
