Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Ericsson hints at PSP Phone

From Afterdawn:

At this week's Mobile World Congress Show Daily, it appears that Sony Ericsson has hinted at the possible creation of a PSP phone.

Says President Bert Nordberg, via electronista: "We missed the window for high-end and touchscreen devices big time. Part of the recovery will be much better design and closer work with our partner Sony... In the past there was no tie-up between us, the PSP platform and Sony, but you can expect to hear much more about that."

There have been many rumors of a "PSP phone" in the past, but not to many have come with basis directly from the mouth of the President of the company.

And then of course, there was the bit from Stringer's press conference about PSN expanding to mobile phones.

From Engadget:

8:05PM He's also looking to fully expand PSN to phones; video distribution was the example given, but long term, there's no reason to think we couldn't see some cross-platform multiplayer gaming action.

8:05PM "We are exploring consistent user interfaces against Sony and Sony Ericsson products." Makes sense... almost too much sense.
8:04PM Describing the PlayStation Network's 40 million-plus members: "PSN is a not-so-secret weapon."

Will it do everything?

Sounds more like PSN on SE phones, kinda like how XBL is on WinMobile7.

Well, they specifically mention a "tie-in to the PSP platform".

i would buy the everloving crap out of a PSP phone. especially if it was 3G

i will always stay cold

Total fail. The PSP has already established it's gaming deviceness. So it would sell well to the gamers. Past that it won't make much of a penetration. as the he says they missed the oppertunity of highend phone with TS. They missed it. Try to make something new that fills more of a convience gap.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Just do it. I am sick of hearing talk about this from every Sony rep in the mobile space. Either get the ball rolling, or shut up. Every couple of months they have me thinking I can unify my home, and on the go electronics, but nothing ever happens. I still sit hear with a PS3, a PSP, and an iPhone. To portable devices in this day and age is Bull Shit.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

KBG29 on PSN&XBL

I really hope one comes out soon, or at least some of Sony's good phones make it here in the US. I read the source and they said the US market is important to them. Then why do they always ignore it and not release it's good phones. The Aino, Satio, X10 aren't being released here yet. It's stupid they need to get those phones out here.

A Sony touch screen phone with a new PSP init would be a definite buy for me.
