I think it had it in 2009. While it should certainly have a much stronger start than 09, I think MS price cuts will eat into PS3 sales from summer on and crucially in the holiday season.

2010 is just the start of a wonderful barrage of exclusive.

PS2 doesn't have anymore huge titles on its console. If anything, we should be asking "Is this the PS2 final year?" At this point, in PS2 lifetime, there will not be another peak.

Might have been 2009 if it's sweet spot moved to $299, but I doubt it. So unless it hits $199 in 2010, then no. Price + library will make the best year. This year it will get the library, next year the price. So probs 2011 (barring any of the unforseen weirdness of this gen)

Nope...its cheapest model is still $300.  Its price has to get down to at least $199-$149 before it's going to hit its peak.  (Barring the release of a new xbox or playstation in that time frame).

Yes. GT + God of War is coming out this year. The 120 gb PS3 models are sold out everywhere.

I think this will be the PS3's best year for sales.  In 2011, one or possibly all three of the companies will show their next generation systems at some point turning everyone's attention to what is coming next.  But I think the PS3 will still continue to sell very well for a few more years.

2010 is going to be it's best year for sure, but it's hard to say if it'll peak in 2010 or 2011. 2010 has all the big games everyones been waiting for, but 2011 will likely bring a price cut and other big games. So if 2010 is not it's peak year then it'll be 2011.

The PS2 peaked in it's 3rd year (2002) according to VGChartz. Because of the high price, I think the PS3 peak has been delayed a bit, but I expect 2010 to be its peak year.

Also, some of the PS3's biggest titles are launching this year (GoW, FF13, GT5).
