Sony is first at something at least!

http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/11/sony-reacts-to.html

SCEA expects a great deal of momentum moving forward this holiday and beyond with the availability of new PS3 hardware and pricing.  Based on internal data, the company is already seeing a great spike in sales with a 192% lift for the PS3 over the past two weeks.

October 2007 was a strong month for the PlayStation brand, according to NPD data.  Overall the PlayStation brand showed a 39% increase in total retail dollars generated year-over-year in the US with total sales of $353.4 million for the month.  Overall, SCEA's console business remains strong with combined sales of PS3 and PS2 for the month of October at $258.5 million in revenue.

The PLAYSTATION 3 sold 121K units at retail for the month of October.  SCEA expects a great deal of momentum moving forward this holiday and beyond with the availability of new PS3 hardware and pricing.  Based on internal data, the company is already seeing a great spike in sales with a 192% lift for the PS3 over the past two weeks.   In fact, as reported by Howard Stringer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Corporation of America, 100,000 units of the PLAYSTATION 3 were sold at retail just last week.

To add to this, the PS3 software lineup continues to strengthen as we head into the holiday season with must-have titles like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune,  Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Assassin's Creed,  Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, Warhawk, and Heavenly Sword on store shelves. Also, upcoming third party exclusives hitting just in time for the holidays, such as Unreal Tournament III and Haze, will only add to our success this season.

The PSP sold 286K units at retail for the month of October. Overall sales of the PSP are up 120% year over year due to the popularity of the slimmer and lighter PSP , which includes video-out capabilities for $169. And with 24 first and third-party software titles being released this holiday season, such as SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of The Lions,as well as new spots for the wildly popular  “Dude, get your own” campaign, the PSP will undoubtedly continue to gain momentum through the coming months.

Seven years into it's life cycle the PS2 remains the best-selling gaming platform ever released, selling 183K units for the month of October. The release of games such as BUZZ! The Mega Quiz, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, and the just released limited-edition PS2 bundled with SingStar Pop will continue to make the console a perfect choice for families interested in social games and will be hugely popular this holiday season.

Gotta love their ability to BS their way through life. They begin their October sales spin by mentioning the PS3's sales over the LAST TWO WEEKS (IE November). Then they go on to the Playstation Brand. I would assume it's pretty hard to not have year over year revenue sales when you have ONE MORE CONSOLE out than you did then.

Completed XBLA: 16 / 32
Completed Retail: 17 / 64
GS Completion %: 82.63%

Ah spin, where would be without it. I don't see any mention that even a permanent increase of 192% would still leave the PS3 in third place. Still lot's of revenue talk, how about some profit talk (or loss as the case is)? Great PS3 software lineup apparently, until you factor in that of the 9 games mentioned, 4 have already bombed, 3 of the remainder are on the 360 also, and the last two are both new IP's (like 2 of the 4 bombs). Lastly, let's forget to mention that as this generation has just started the PS2 will remain the best selling console for at least another 4 years and is something that is less and less important each passing week.

I hope Sony pays these people good money.

So now they are saying 100k just for PS3 again?!

I'm too dizzy to figure it out anymore.

lol, so you all can`t assume, that PEOPLE ARE BUYING PS3 ? =)))
that there aren`t some people, which gladly will buy 399$ costing PS3? =))
how pathetic. =]

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

After NDP data for October and how much VGC over tracked the 360 I have no doubt that 360 is also way over tracked for the last 2 weeks. Also, I'm starting to believe that Sony's 100k figure for last week might be true and VGC is only showing 64k. I know for a fact that the 3 gamestops close to me sold out of the 40Gb PS3 twice since it's launch.

Now a forward statement: I think the PS3 will beat 360 WW in both November and December :)

Optimistic predictions for 2008 (Feb 5 2008): Wii = 20M, PS3 = 14M, X360 = 9.5M
