Forums - Gaming Discussion - Disney: Epic Mickey could eventually end up on Xbox 360 or PS3

Just like SFIV or RE5 "could" come to the Wii. PR talk.

Bingo. They're just trying to placate people at this point.

Certainly far too early to be talking about this, given that the game is probably going to undergo significant changes, and the end product could be something quite agreeable with PS3 or 360, but things are too uncertain as of yet

I thought Disney just said they were going to focus more on releasing Disney games on the Wii and Marvel games on the PS360....

So disney really bought MARVEL?

yeah. That was months ago I think. I'm still worried what that really says about the future of Marvel but so far I haven't seen anything major happen.

There are a lot worse reasons to worry about Marvel then Disney buying them.  They've been catering to the same dwindling audience for a while now, haven't expanded and seem to think the only way to keep people reading is to have major event after major event with no time to breathe in between.

I thought their Digital Comics were doing well but I could be wrong. Those newsletters that I get generally always seem peppy since they're probably trying to get people interested in stuff, despite it probably not working nearly as well as they probably hope.

They're doing fairly well... the main problem is, they're mostly targeted towards the same markets though.

In reality Disney and it's ability to reach across age groups is just the kind of thing Marvel really needs right now.

From what i've heard, the big two comics publishers have never really recovered from that industry's crash back around 1992/3 or so.

I say the big two, because Image, Top Cow, and especially Dark Horse seem to have built themselves in that post-crash period, so the whole industry can't be toxic, but DC and Marvel just haven't been the same.

More or less, but the big two still hold a vast majority of the buisness. They're carving out a bigger niche but the pie is shrinking.

I think that what most upsets Nintendo console owners is the loss of exclusivity. Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 4, No More Heroes. If this is comes true before releasing Epic Mickey on Wii, you can be damn sure it won't sell on Wii, because their owners will boycott the game. I would, if this happened.

but that is the problem i think more an more gamer's are having this generation, you cannot loose something if you still get to play it on your system!

that's the point , if you can still play the game on the Wii why should it matter?

that's the big problem I see with this whole generation right from the start

the Wii lost this, the PS3 lost this the xbox360 lost this..

does anyone see a theme here, I could understand if the system does not get the game completely , or somewhat if you have to wait because of timed exclusivity but even  with Timed Exclusive you still get to play the game , well at least most of the time that is..

I just think many gamer's are blowing the said game system "lost exclusivity"  way out of proportion.

the only true exclusives you can count on is first party, and second 3rd party are freelance

beside's In my opinion the Wii has exclusive's in spade's

There's a real danger with a Wii losing its exclusive status, and that's how the game controls. Imagine if one of the HD twins ended up going multiplat with a Wii game and as a result those particular games always end up with shitty graphics.

That actually does happen with Wii games going multiplat. The control is almost always a pile of shit, the graphics almost always take a huge hit (I'm not talking PS3 level, I mean looking like a first year PS2 game).  I can't think of a single multiplat Wii game that has reached its full potential, can you?  Even Tiger Woods 2010, probably the best golf game ever thanks to WM+ has early PS2 graphics and suffers because of its multiplat status.

Multiplat Wii and PC games always fail horribly in some category, which is definitely not the case with a lot of PS3/360 multiplat games. Same case with PC games going 360. I know before the game comes out the levels are going to be teeny tiny and there's going to be a lack of gameplay options and probably shitty graphics and baby scale so it's not worth the effort, at least not at anything above $9.99.

Are you saying that Nintendo 1st party Exclusive's are not enough ?

because Yes we as gamer's alway's want more game experiences, but that's just a fact of the way the entire game industry has moved toward, It come's down to the people that make the choice for how a game get's released are mostly the guy's at the head, most of your developer's just make the game, so if say Disney decides that it's more Money for Disney to bring the game over to other platform's that the head's of the company are going to do just that.

one can see that already:

just look at Final Fantasy XIII

GTA:IV being released on more system's at the same time that they have done right away. most of the time one system at a time.

So i can understand that what your saying is many time's true , but the developer's may not have a choice in the matter. they like to keep their job.

What I'm saying is that gamers get really upset when a game announced first as an exclusive, is going multiplatform: it's like a shot in their chests and, if this happens before the game is released, I'm pretty sure this boycott will happen, whether people will buy the HD version (if they have the chance to) or wil simply choose to put the game aside (if they only have the Wii). And this happens mostly because of what cAPSLOCK said: Wii multiplatform games are a piece of crap, always.
