THQ says core audience isn't on Wii, de Blob 2 multiplatform and more

It's weird how they say Wii is the platform for I.P. like Super Hero Squad yet it was a relative flop.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Its starting to appear that no Wii third party title is safe. THQ must have been busy with Arc and Natal to make it multiplat. E3 can't come fast enough.

Were the fans of HD consoles anticipating the old 3rd party Wii games? Seems kind of silly, I thought they hated that stuff... enjoy the Party Babyz I guess.

OT: I think the guy's full of crap. His two examples, de Blob and Deadly Creatures, did about as well as they should. I can see why they'd go for multiplat, but saying the core Wii audience doesn't exist just because crap like Deadly Creatures flopped is BS. That was not the audience's fault, THQ, it was yours. Try porting it up to the HD consoles, I'd love to see how it does...

Well, I don't care much for their games anyway, or any western third party Wii effort, for that matter. As long as Nintendo and other Japanese games are on board (plus some gems like Epic Mickey), I'm set.

I don't feel like they didn't /try/ with those games but I mean, come on. Would De Blob or Deadly Creatures have sold better on the PS360? Lets get real.

I really could care less. =/

THQ games do have quality and are always aware of their core audience. So they should resume by making games to run on HD twins in future.

I really think de blob is more casual and will flop on hd sistems

Wii version will probably outsell the HD versions, but its a good move by THQ more people can experience this fun game.

It's endless. The publisher does nothing, gets no results, blames the audience (which is the one thing you should never ever ever do if you're not a blazing idiot), declares that they tried everything, throws their hands up in frustration and give up

Its a wonder any of these companies are still in business.

This coming from someone who apprentely doesn't have either hd consoles. How many companies are saying this about wii? You don't really hear them bad-mouthing the HD consoles. You would expect a game like Deadly Creatures to find success on a console with a huge user base.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Who will spend money on a game you only will have 5 hours on?

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

THQ has made 3 quality games in the last year

UFC 2009
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Darksiders

I can't complain about their decisions either to develop for wii or hd consoles, it doesn't bother me if they go out of business as well, as long as they keep delivering quality products for the core market.

I think there's a paradox here somewhere, but I just can't put my finger on it...

The only thing that bothers me about this interview is that I was hoping De Blob 2 would make use of the pointer (paint balls anyone?), and I doubt they'd implement a mechanic like that for a multiplat release. Sure, Arc/Natal can do pointing, but why would THQ make the game around peripherals when everything about the original could be done on a conventional gamepad?

Replace "core audience" with "quality 3rd party games" and you have a true statement!
