You're OP says that you are not hating on FFXIII. Yet your title says FFXIII did not live up to expectations even though it is on pace to become one of the best selling games in the franchise and still has a shot at being AAA on metacritic despite clearly biased ratings coming from Western reviewers.

So yeh I'm not even gonna properly respond to this thread cuz the title and OP make no sense to me whatsoever. If FFXIII is a failure, or failed to live up to expectations, then get ready for a HUGE dissapointment with XIII.

i have the same thoughts on the matter as the OP. if it stays exclusive and they can really ultilize the ps3 hardware and storage space of blu-ray, it has a much better chance of living up to expectations. if it winds up going multiplat and they have to remove content again like they did with xiii, forget it, it will likely flop.

i just hope they're listening to the criticisms of ff xiii and making the approprite changes to versus. fixing the world map is a good start.

If i were hating on FFXIII then id be saying it is the worst jrpg of all time and that is sucks and that is a waste of money.  But i never said that.  And if it does get a AAA review then good it deserves it.  Im just saying the game should have been what it was expected to be.

No you wouldn't....cause you can't say it's the worst JRPG and that it sucks and is a waste of money unless you've played it. If you have in fact played it, then you know that it not only lives up to expecations, it completely shatters them. The game is twice the game I was expecting it to be and is easily in the top 5 games I've played this generation.

If it stays exclusive on the PS3 and let Nomuras Team handle it how they want it then YES

But if it goes multi then no....Nomura would be pissed,his team also and they fuck up - Deleting again 80% of the game.
Deleting the worldmap,the towns,the game and everything else that makes the hype for Versus.

I loved FF13 and had fun but i want to see what Nomura and his Team can do.
He is the Kojima from SquareEnix - A god and probably the last one who knows what he does and how to develop.
They should give him the time he needs - Sony should also now start to talk with them about exclusivity for longer than 1 year or more than on one country.
Sony should stay in contact with them for 24/7 - Otherwise M$ will sneak from behind again and give them 4890473 Billion US$ for fucking up the game because they want it too.

They can get FF14 because more people is needed for a game like this but not Versus.

Probably not. No game this generation can live up to impossible standards of the gamer hype. Final Fantasy XIII will surely live up to me, since i'm not taking EVERY single piece of information and blowing it so out of proportion. That is what is going to happen to VS next, and then it will be the next "failure." But in reality it will not be. It will be a good game just like i'm sure XIII is.

No. I believe that Square Enix put themselves in an impossible position by announcing all of the FFXIII titles several years before their release. Doing causes an incredible amount of hype for each title that is difficult to reach. Gamers have had years to pour over screenshots and make their on postulations about what the game is about and what it should be like. For significant portion of those, their expectations will not be met and it will lead to an inevitable backlash. When you combine that with the population of gamers that where never interested in the game and are just plain sick of all it's hype. You are get a perfect storm of genuinely disappointed gamers and haters who can't wait to pile on to that disappointment.

That situation will be magnified for FFvsXIII. You'll have all the gamers that shifted their hopes from FFXIII to vsXIII getting their hopes even higher and all of the people that are just plain sick of hearing about anything FFXIII related combining into one unending bitchfest. It won't be pretty. The boards will be ablaze and I'll be shaking my head because I saw it coming.

Well devs aren't telling gamers to take every piece of information they get and to spin it 90 degrees in the other direction and have a canary over everything. It is the gamers themselves that are at fault for this.
