If Reviews were impotent I would not have alot of the JRPGs and Japanese games I have on PS3 and also on PS2.  

I take reviews seriously based on the text, not the number.

Review scores are beyond pointless, and are poisoning the industry, in that a lot of publishers make games with the goal of getting a specific metacritic score, which means that at least some of them are designing games specifically to pander to the gaming journalists, a horrible contortion of values

I generally don't follow reviews much at all, either. I know what i want, usually. Previews are generally the most hopeful thing for me, when i'm approaching an unfamiliar IP

and most of those games are extremely damn good too.

I really don't mind indvidual review scores, but I have come to really despise a game's Metascore. I like the idea of being able to read dozens of reviews all in one place. Particularly on a game I wasn't sure about. I just don't like the concept of combining all the reviews into a single score.

There is no single scale that all reviewers use. A "7" rating for some reviewers is a good score  while it is just average from others. Letter and star grades are not fairly represented in many cases.

I've enjoyed Dante's Inferno as well. The game clearly lacks originality in the gameplay department, but it has not ruined the experience. I hope people give it a chance.

Scores are so biased anymore. Not really biased in the fanboy sort of way, more biased based on hype. Just my opinion, but I do not believe any game this gen has deserved a perfect 10 so far. GTA4 getting a 10 was the final nail in the coffin for "review scores" for me.

I do read the content of the review however.

Don't care to be honest. If I did, I probably wouldn't own many JRPG's, which is my favorite video game genre.
