^ haha good job. but then again, you must also look at it on a different perspective. the PS3 was seen as doomed from the start, and here it is in the present day, outselling xbox360 on some software sales, and then overtaking (or almost overtaking) the xbox in overall hardware sales in europe. and the fact that in america, the install base is almost 2-1, i still can't believe that some of the multiplatform games perform a lot better compared to the xbox version. its not entirely BS, but its also not entirely true. all it is are words that are sugar-coated for the weak-minded masses to instill confidence in their products. doesn't microsoft do the same thing? |
If the userbases were identical in makeup then yes, you would have to be surprised. However the PS3 has a larger proportion of fighting/hack n slash fans (hence the DLC) and it has an audience of movie lovers which also explains the performance and extra content of batman. Its simply the way the cookie crumbles as to the proportions of certain niche audiences each console gets. Shooters + WRPG + multiplayer games perform really well on the Xbox 360 whilst games based on movie IP, fighting, racing and other console 'staple' games perform relatively better on PS3.
The thing which really bothered me about this piece was not particularly the content but the audience it was directed to. There was an outcry when Bobby Kotick made comments negative to the PS3 and this is pretty much the same thing. The publishers all have internal data so this isn't telling them anything new. However by saying it in public all its really doing is putting pressure on the publishers in the same way that Activision put pressure on Sony. This is why I said it was a BS move by Sony. Its really a negative PR piece but its just sugar coated better.
But thanks for your praise, I try to keep my content/noise ratio high.
