I do not really care when they bring out new systems. If I am having fun still on my Wii I have no reason to rush or care to buy a new one. With so many games coming out this year and the ones I have yet to get to pick up I will have plenty to keep me busy well passed 2011-2012. Not to mention the 15-20 D.S. games I would still like to play.

The Wii is the best selling hardware, therefore it has the least logical reason to be replaced by Nintendo.

By that time in PS2 time scale it would be 2006. It was still a great console but showing its age.

Keep things fresh. In two years the potential for stunning 1080p graphics with full effects will be with us and I would be a launch day purchaser of whom so ever launches first.

November 11th, 2011 (11/11/11) comes around once a century and it'd be really cool if Nintendo launched the wii 2 on this day. But unless Wii sales nosedive or the arc/natal cause massive fiscal hemorrhages for Nintendo, it won't happen. Personally, I'd like to see a xbox 720 in November 2012 and a ps4 at most, a year later. Before they launch new systems, I want sequels to GTA, Tekken and Resident Evil, not crumby spin-offs and the Arcade should be 100$ or less.

wii/ps3 came out in 06. Thier upgrades will be 2011 or 2012.

360 will prob be the same

 

Some things that have changed:

  • the time required to develop a game
  • the money required to develop a game
  • the costs incured in devoloping/launching consoles
  • all major competitors are seeing success with their consoles (3rd place in this gen might end up being the 5th best selling console of all time)
  • through the first 5 years of the gen no console has experienced a huge YOY drop
