OT: lthough, that Spider-Man vid hasn't actually turned into an actual game, it IS rendered fully using the PS3. His skin textures are quite detailed, but there are games on the PS3 who's textures look just as good IMO.

If anything, HEAVY RAIN exceeds it.

Spider-Man 2 was a good movie.

I think Heavy Rain is on par with the Tech Demo or a little better looking.

My feelings are that Yes the PS3's graphics have lived up to the "hype" or whatever you want to call it. I wasnt meaning to rat on your thread but i just think its common sense. I can see this turning into a massive clusterfuck of fanboys bantering back and forth.

It was made for the sake of speaking about the PS3 and nothing else. It isn't against any other console. Didn't mean to get snappy but that is just the kind of behavior I try to avoid in my threads.

I know you wernt creating this thread to bash other consoles. And i actually think its a really interesting thread. That video looks great but i think the PS3 can actually pull it off as should anyone who has seen the recent PS3 exclusives. They are absolutly Mind Blowing!!! :)

All of the cutscenes in Uncharted 2 were pre-rendered using the engine, as were Heavanly Sword's. He isn't known for speaking positive about PS3 though, so take that with a grain of salt.

That is false.  Some of the videos in Uncharted 2 are in-game.  It's easy to tell because you can skip the prerendered ones.  The in-game cutscenes are usually shorter.

IMO, the lighting (especially the way it reflects from his eyes/skin) and just the overall realism in that trailer is insane. While the textures are very impressive,  I do think that Heavy Rain has the textures down.

Nope. Direct from Naughty Dogs Community Manager

"Our cinematics are recordings of in-engine sequences"

 

In order: U:DF = Character render

HS = Pre-rendered video capture

U2 = Pre-rendered video capture

Heavy Rain = Not as good IMO

 

Not saying that the PS3 isn't capable of that, but the examples the TC used aren't at all appropriate since 3/4 of them aren't even real-time.
